What's up with PremiumSale.com?

PremiumSale.com has a domain on auction that I would like to bid on. However, it is a private auction and you can only bid if invited to take part. What the hell is that about? The name dropped just a couple of days ago and I had it backordered through Snapnames. It looks like PremiumSale.com caught the name and now only special people can bid on it.

Isn't that hurting the registry by keeping people out of the auction?

It probably works the same way as snapnames auctions. You can be in it, if you pre-ordered it with them or affiliated/related dropcatcher? Just a theory though )
