Did you install anything before you turned off your computer? Any new drivers? Anything?
This is not a virus and nothing serious so don't get too worried but you should have a look at this.

hhctrl.ocx is a Microsoft ActiveX program. Needed for IE to work properly. It is also a way for hackers to remote execute what ever.

For more information check out

http://www.ocxdump.com/download-ocx-files_new.php/ocxfiles/H/HHCTRL.OCX/4.73.8412/download.html (You can download the latest version of the new file from here, I wouldn't recommand it unless you know your stuff)

After a quick look up
I came up with this..
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925902
Looks like Microsoft has known about this error and fixed it and those updates that are ready to install are probably a fix for it. Install them, than turn off automatic updates and than restart and see what happens. If it still occurs follow this.

Install KB925902
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/update/bulletins/200704oob.mspx
Click "Download the updates for your home computer or laptop from the Microsoft Update Web site" IN IE!!!! than download it and install it.

If they does not work.. Try

Update for Windows XP (KB935448)
Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control
Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and
security update KB928843 (MS07-008). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...88-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en
Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2
