We've gone through LLLL.coms, L-L-L.coms, LLL.ins, NNNNN.coms, etc. What's the next big thing that should be invested in. I've noticed a lot of people going towards LLLLL.coms, but there are so many millions of those. What are y'all doing your investing in right now?

I'm refering the things that can still be registered for regular fee.

I myself am working on the possibility of purchasing a LLL.com though.

i'd definitely say LLLL.nets. Right now they're 6 bucks a pop. and its not hard at all to sell good ones for 10-15 bucks, and we're still really early in the game. They should all sell out in 2 years max, at which point ones that you buy now would be 30 easy.

I think that before there is another NEW next big thing, first the last BIG THINGS need to CONSOLIDATE.

Give it a break......too many too fast otherwise.

Maybe mobi.

There are a lot of challenges. But there is a chance that mobi will ride the mobile web build-out. As others have said there is no need for mobi to overtake com, there are tons of mobis available now that would turn a nice price if they were .nets. There are less than a million mobis sold.

Anybody still play 5 card draw? You get a pair of sevens. Not bad, not real good. Surely you are going to call the bets to take the draw. You could get three cards of junk, you could get another pair or another seven. Might even get two more sevens, you never know. But you stay figuring that you have a good chance for another pair and that would have a decent chance of winning. That's .mobi.

7777 <--- That would be OK, too

Good advice. As we all watch LLLLers make 10x ROI we want to think there will be a next big thing like that sometime soon that we can have a part of. Unfortunately there is no clear "thing" over the next year or two that will bring that kind of return.

The vast majority of us missed out or underbought in the last big thing, so concentrating on a "small but satisfying thing", like 2-3x overall ROI with a good solid portfolio is the best strategy IMO.

This is exactly how i see LLLL.nets. As great as it would be if these names would get $50 minimum in the next year or two i dont expect them to. But i definitely expect good quality names to fetch at least 20 bucks (hell some of them are selling for $15 right now on NP), and thats enough reason to invest in them i say.

The next big thing will be Hydrogen (H2).....it will be the 'holygrail' of energy imho.....the alternative fuel of the future.

I agree ... playing poker (or going to the track) are better odds than the ".MOBI", IMHO. :guilty:

Mobile Web™; absolutely ... <---> ... but "dot mobey"; VERY risky! :o :imho:

Please see the "biggest flop in 2008" thread for further details ... :gl: :snaphappy:

I agree on the Mobile Web™ / GPS / localization of the internet, however! :tu:
Just my two sense.

Sure, there millions, from that you can find really pronounceable premium domains and reg them for 3-5 years, you will get good return in the future. Normally companies will look for short brandable names.

Currently one of my 5L domain having mid $XXX offer.

Not convinced about the alternative fuel domains. Isn't fuel promoted to a handful of decision makers? I prefer to look for something that is being promoted heavily to the masses.

I'm very optimistic about brandable LLLLL.com.

I'm also very interested in .tel.
(Visit Ben.tel with your mobile [not computer] and tel me that .tel isn't convenient for mobile users)

I think that comes out in Sept and am waiting to see if the pricing is reasonable or not.

Reg anything you can to do with:

climate change
carbon trading
solar power
wave power
desalination, desalination plant
geo thermal
wind power

... and wait for about a five-year lead time. These are all going to be hot by 2015, given the environmental changes that are going to occur between now and then. Google searches on all these terms are going to multiply big time in the next five years.

Note: the term "carbon emissions" is more well known in the US than "carbon trading" (which is better known in Europe and Asia) but I'm convinced the latter will be a better choice to reg. I say that because it's the trading of carbon credits, not carbon emissions, that's going to be the prime commercial term. CarbonTrading.com is going to be a huge name. There's already a website being shaped along the lines of a trading exchange. These are early days but the owners of this name are on the right track.
