We've gone through LLLL.coms, L-L-L.coms, LLL.ins, NNNNN.coms, etc. What's the next big thing that should be invested in. I've noticed a lot of people going towards LLLLL.coms, but there are so many millions of those. What are y'all doing your investing in right now?

Local!

Developed, geo-targeted websites that serve a local niche/need ... be at the forefront of "localizing" the internet, and you'll be one step ahead IMHO. :music:

Not just domain names, but developments! :gl: :imho:
Just my two sense.

What exactly is that? Apparently it isn't something I've heard of.

Water rights!! 'That' is something to watch! An interesting global reality to come.

But in the domainer world, this mobile internet that 'is' coming, is the next big frontier to come. I think too many are currently looking at the mobile internet as a .com/.mobi type of thing. With the browsers, phones, technology etc, that are to come, it doesn't matter the extension. The products, services, ideas etc., that are to be borne to service it, are unfathomed and barely tapped at present. Even Google has admitted that mobile traffic is a 'lot' higher than they believed to be at present, and only to increase.

The 'Next' thing - Mobile Interneting!

:imho: These are the possibilities.

1. Development of already owned domains that get type-in traffic.

2. NNN.co.in, Premium lettered LLL.co.in.

3. Premium 5 lettered pronounceable .com names.

4. LLL.tv (if they are not yet reg'd).

5. Premium words, LLL, NNN in .asia extension.

6. Premium words, some LLL & NNN in .me extension.

Due research is to be conducted before taking any decision.

I agree re: geo targetted. I also think we'll actually begin to see some end user .info sales IF (and only if) they are truly products or subproducts people want info about. The ext. just makes sense and is easy to remember - but again, only if you want/need info. For example, puppytraining.info (not mine) or permanentlife.info (mine - an insurance product with 1 million + results).

Development has always been, and will continue to be, a good option.

Although in pure domaining terms, I'd say that LLLL.nets should be next. I've never been a fan of numeric domains... not too sure why though :)

That's definitely the right idea.

:imho: It's silly to chase after trends that only domainers value. Unless you intend on entering and exiting a niche quickly before you expect it to reach its peak of interest, it's usually not worth your time. In other words: buy up a couple of what the latest "trends" are and sell the immediately to other domainers... don't hold them for the long term. Go after geographically specific domains and develop them.

I like the idea of locking up shopping malls by buying rights to put solar panels on top of their vast buildings. Imagine owning the rights to all of the wal-mart store's roof tops! :)

Righto, and that be complemented with geo-targeting / localization (developed websites; see above), IMHO. :gl:

Think of LOCAL ads being displayed on your cell phone ... because it knows where you are, and what is around you (as well as your demographics, tastes, etc.)! :lala:
The two of them together - Mobile Web -and- Localization = next thing, IMHO. :music:

Just my humble thoughts.

It will go even deeper that that IMO - when I swipe my supermarket card it learns what I personally like and decide to buy. Somehow they will integrate that technology into our mobile phones. You'll get not only a list of restaurants in your area, you'll get a list of Italian restaraunts because that's where you tend to go...

I'm thinking that all sorts of NNNNNNN.....coms might be worth investing. With all the words that can be spelled out with numbers, shouldn't there be a market for it in the near future?

* A lot of people are investing in LLLL.nets and brandable LLLLL.coms
* There's been a bit going on about fourth generation phones going on... samsung have developed one, and they say they should have it available within a year (!)

Just a thought... not saying these domains are the ones to go for, just possibilities

I agree. But you try putting forward a domain like permittrade.com to Sedo for greatdomainhood status :'(

This appeals to me. I think 5 lettered pronounceable .com domains are quite limited and they will have certain value.
