If you cannot use 'example' or 'example.com' on social media, which is best?

If you're creating a social media account/page for your domain (example.com)
What's the best option for a username:
  • @example_com
  • @exampleCom
  • @exampledotCom

(note: @Example isn't available and dots aren't always allowed in usernames)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I voted, from the options given, ExampleCom
With underscore I think many miss it thinking it is a space.
I guess the dot is OK, but prefer simply ExampleCom

I prefer ExampleCom over ExampleDotCom because its shorter. I feel having the word Dot is unnecessary.

I believe in this regards sending the right message is more important than the length. Hence i would go with the dot

TIP OF THE DAY: I noticed that facebook.com/exampleCom is the same thing as facebook.com/example.com. Even though FB does not allow dots in their subfolder, it will still forward properly. Tested by yours truly

used example_com but now I think exampleINC (Group / Com / Corp) is better

FWIW I just checked and Escrow.com uses escrowcom on Twitter.

I voted dot.
But who cares about the symbol in the middle, the most important thing is the COM at the end.

Excellent tip!

It's unfortunate that it doesn't work on other social networks like Twitter.

Thanks for sharing.

I use example_com which is fine because if your brand is unique they can just search "example" and it will pop up first.

I would change the domain, and it doesn't have to be .com, and I don't like .com, I just like selling it.

I'm a fan of adding "Official", "Team", or even "HQ" to the end of the handle.

Example:

@FrostifyHQ
@FrostifyOfficial
@FrostifyTeam
@FrostifyLLC
@FrostifyInc
@FrostifyGroup
@FrostifyTweets
@FrostifyCorp
@FrostifySocial

There's lots you can do.
If you actual register your trademark/copyright you can just request @frostify or whatever your brand is from Twitter and they might oblige given you have a legal right to use the name as a business.

For all my projects, "exampleCom" when "example" is already taken.

Or:

1- Example
2- ExampleCom
3- Example_Com (In case of twitter)
4- ExampleDotCom
5- TheExample
6- ExampleOfficial
