I saw a thread on here not too long ago about a guy who was getting sued by google for using some sort of google domain, I seem to remember him being foreign and was going to take on google. I'm trying to find it but I have had no luck. If anyone knows what I mean, could they please link me.

Thanks.

I think you mean about the person who regged googleemail.com ... and started a thread after he convinced a judge of a Canadian court that there was a character (a bear) in Shrek called googlee and that he regged the name googleemail.com (googlee mail) so as to set up email accounts for people ... according to his sayings the court ordered that (because his registrar transferred the name to Google) he sustained supposed damages of $610 and he was insisting that he would try to take that money from Google and that the court decision was setting a precedent ...

I did a forum search for "googleemail" and found the thread ...

rather long thread but quite interesting and quite funny ... especially JBerryhill's bet for $100 for someone to send a copy of the Shrek movie that has a bear named googlee inside ... lol

It wasn't that one i'm afraid. It was a rather bad domain and I think it was something .co.na or something like that.

I started reading that thread and was compelled to read through the whole thing. That was pretty damn entertaining, and interesting to note the origin of Mr. Berryhill here at NP. I love how the "landmark decision" turned out to be from a small claims court case, lol.

Seb - I thought that's the one you meant ... it included most of the points you described ...

Steve - it is one of those threads that you casually start reading out of curiosity and end up on page 10 in an hour or so because of how the story unfolds ... you probably know about this thread

Allan - it is a tough spot when someone tries to convince other people in a domain forum when even n00b domainers can see that he regged it because of Google ... (even he's name gave him off from the start lol)

Dan - it was a default judgement by a Canadian Small Claims Court with no jurisdiction over the defendant in the amount of $610 (post #219) ... meaning that the court issued a decision for $610 for damages because the defendant (Google) did not even bother to show up ... but maybe it is a good idea to read the thread because it is a rather interesting and funny read , has some (internet) law info and is one of NP's classic threads ...
