WHAT'S A GOOD PLACE TO DO domain TRANSFER?

I GOT approached by the potential buyer, and we agreed on the price. Now, he goes to sedo, and places that agreed price there.
Sedo says i'll have to pay them $3K just for the privilege.

R there cheaper alternatives to transfer?

3K? Wow. Sounds like a whopper sale.

I would definitely bite the bullet and pay it; better than risk losing the money and domain through a possible scam.

What about Escrow . com? I have never used this, but others here have. Maybe they'll jump on here and let you know how it is.

Since your original negotiation didn't include where the domain is sold and he chose Sedo, then you are within your rights to say this wasn't included in the original negotiations, and that they should pay the fee. If you don't want to sound greedy you could offer to split the fees.

Any potential legal issues we should know here, OP?

Sedo wants to charge 15%, plus,
they wouldn't let me keep the Euros.
They insist on exchanging to $ at their rate

Your suppose to contact sedo first and tell them its an off sedo transaction to get their lowest (cough) escrow only rate. Might be too late to do that.

Tell buyer you need the amount greed upon in your pocket, if they insist on sedo they will have to make up the difference.

And as Dave states if there no trademark legal issues then you put this in the wroung np section

good luck

Sedo is playing weird.
Both parties r german, and so is sedo.
We'll try afternic.
And no, there r no tm issues. just a generic word.

Moniker is another option.

The last nail to the Sedo Transaction coffin was their Gestapo-type interrogation, that presumed that everybody is at fault and Sedo is entitled to all the money.

Sedo assumes that there no possible way you and the buyer could have met without their help.

Was the name listed on Sedo before the buyer started the transaction?

i wonder why not just use escrow.com and stop whining about sedo..

Probably because there two partys involved and the other might very much wanted to do the transaction through sedo.

If u have a large portfolio, u usually list it with 10 diff houses.
But u still get direct inquiries.
Most non-domainers have no idea about Sedo or Escrow or Afternic

Well you would naturally get "Gestapo-type interrogation" when the name is listed on sedo-> then buyer starts the transaction-> then sedo is told "No we met outside of sedo, give us your escrow only price"

Most non-domainers have no idea about Sedo or Escrow or Afternic

My experience is some know about sedo, A fair amount know about Escrow, and nobody knows about Afternic lol

Yes,
You've got a point there.
But why make a simple transaction so painful.
It shouldn't look like occupying a friendly neighbour, say, Poland, imposing a new regime, and herding people to the slaughterhouse
