What would you like to see in a directory?

I am currently working on implementing, designing and with the help of coders scripting a new directory project. I don't want this to be just a run of the mill directory though, I want it to have something different, and something you as the public will want to see.

I am planning for it to be a general directory, with free listings possible. I am just wondering if any of you guys have any input on what you would like to see.

I plan to spend a lot of time on the project and I don't want it to just go with the crowd.

So if any of you guys and gals have any input then it would be greatly appreciated.

I think there already are directories for things I would want. Do you at least have a base idea of what you want to build so you can solicit similar "add on" type ideas?

Basically, it will be a general directory, similar to DMOZ, with free listings as well as sponsored listings for revenue. I am just wondering if anybody would like to see any features, not seen in other directories, that would make surfing the directory a lot easier.

I think the most important thing is to keep the directory accurate and current as much as possible.
