LOL,why not ask a Chinese to answer the question, just like me.If you can figure out where the Chinese are going to spend their money, that is the next trend.

When it comes to new and advancing technology related domains in .com extension I think you might be right. If you can figure out where the Chinese are going to spend their money, that is the next trend.
End-users of country code top level domains (cTLDs) will tend to secure their generic top-level domains (gTLDs) equivalents, where possible. This is already happening. How about .cn and .cc?
If WISHES were horses ...And I WISH all the domains I own become the trend,LOL...

End-users will need to combine multiple extensions (3 or 4 at least) to make an impact online. I foresee .com leading, followed by a couple of the short, top-level generic extensions such as .top, .xyz.
What are you disagreeing with?I disagree. Diluting your online presence is in principle counterproductive. There will be defensive registrations in many nGTLD's, sure, but it doesn't have much to do with making an impact online.

As for VR, we still don't know how it will be used, there is no general theme for now. Will users only play and watch stuff using VR headsets or will those headsets provide browsable experience as well? If the latter is true, there might be good times coming to domaining yet again. If not, only the top VR-related domains will sell well.
I'd say 2-letter ccTLD's and brandable .com's have the biggest potential for the next few years.
The next hot domain trend can be divided in 2 ways IMO:
- I would give a technology in early development/adoption a nice chance. Looking at VR, this is still in it's early stages but all good domains are long gone and sales are made regularly. I think Holo or Beacon might have a nice shot, although this is just guessing in the dark. The same thing goes for this: if Holo domains have nice sales that hit the news, there will be more threads about it, more people stepping in which will increase hype.
I've just tried searching for VR related domains, pretty much any major field like medical, games, even tennis! is taken. Think most of us may have missed the boat on that one. Keyword specific two word domains where both words relate to each other and pass the 'radio' test are worth getting. i have a few which i'm surprised weren't taken already
