I read recently how someone just sold a domain for strong 4 figures whilst it was also listed on wholesale for $15.

Great result for them, and got me wondering if anyone here had a similar or better story?

Share your most interesting / unexpected result..

Mine was my my first (2) sales.

I had only been doing this for a few months and was using mainly Epik at the time (this was before all the stuff that happened). My domains were listed on their marketplace and using their landers.

After getting tired of dealing with all of the problems with their landers, I switched to using Dan. The next day my first sale happened and three days later was my next to the same buyer.

@Simon SE , do you have a personal one?

@nlitenme - nothing big but I had a .dev domain that I never thought I would sell.

I paid $300 for it plus another $150 on renewal day because it was a "premium" name. Was going to call it a loss and put it down as a lesson learned but a month or so before it expired I stuck it on Reddit. Sold it within a few hours for a profit.

I've never tried Reddit for selling, does it work well for you?

This has happened to me at least a few times:

Names that I had posted here for a couple of hundred, sell for mid to high four figures.

The most recent was a 2-word name ending in “bear”.

No one here wanted it for $200 and one day, as I was quietly sitting in front of my computer, got a message from Afternic Transaction Assurance alerting me that the domain sold for $9888.

One of the most interesting aspects of domain investing is that element of unpredictability.

I’m sure it has happened to most investors, and it will keep happening.

No, it's usually the worst place for me tbh. That's what made it even more unusual
