I own the domain AffiliateProgram,com

I have owned it for a long time. Right now it is parked.

What would you guys do with this domain?

I always thought it would be ideal for acquisition by a big e-commerce player such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, etc.. or even an online casino. It might also work as a directory for affiliate programs.

Any suggestions?

I think that selling it to me for $10 is,
by far, your best option...

Put it up at the next T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Strong keyword .com in a moneyed industry.

I see it more as a site to teach merchants how to run an affiliate program. Check out companies doing this type of biz and see if they would be interested in acquiring the domain. You can also develop an ebook and market it using the domain.

have you ever got any inquires from affiliate companies? If not, then I would build it out, sign up for hundreds of affiliates that pay you for leads and outsource 20-30 articles on affiliate marketing.

The traffic alone on that should bring in a nice monthly income. I have a few forums you may check out and since some of them have cash you may even get a buyer!

Natty has a great idea or you can do it as a review site. Pull no punches

If you find it useless then you can sell the domain. Look for a buyer.

The problems with the idea of an affiliate program directory are 1) there are already several heavyweights (including one sitting at AffiliatePrograms.com) and the domain alone is not going to outweigh them and 2) the concept of the affiliate program directory is a little outdated in light of the current state of the affiliate marketing business -- most major aff programs out there are now run under the umbrella of just a few companies (Commission Junction, Linkshare, Pepperjam, et al.)

In fact, if you dig through some of the bigger program directories you'll find many that simply point you back to one of the big affiliate companies, rather than the company you'd be specifically promoting. It's just a very different landscape than it was a decade ago, when a sortable directory of programs for a wide variety of retailers was a godsend for someone trying to make it in affiliate marketing.

Then what's the best thing to do now?

Then what's the best thing to do now?

give it to me for $11 ;) LOL

If you need the money then put it on T.R.A.F.F.I.C. or other big DN auctions coming up

If I owned it I personally just do a blog (word press) taking about other affiliates companies.

( money can be made by Google Ads & your affiliate links i.e if your taking about amazon and you are an affiliate member put your link in )

Update = Do the same thing you did with parkingcash.com ;)

Sell it to someone who doesn't know that, eg. through one of the bigger auctions like T.R.A.F.F.I.C.

This may not even need to be produced by yourself. It is such a generic name that I think many gurus would be interested in purchasing it for a good amount of money. I would try getting in touch with some of them.

- The Valuate.com appraisal for your domain is about $185,000. It may only sell for half of that, but that may be ok.

- Monthly exact search numbers for "affiliate programs" is higher than for "affiliate program", but the reverse is true for broad match searches, which makes sense.

- The domain only has about 27 backlinks, which means while you may be making some money from parking, the potential to make much more with a little work should be there. Increasing revenue will allow you to expect a higher price in most cases, but not all.

- The domain does not appear to be optimized for parking. There are money-making links, but nothing specific about "affiliate programs".

- Does affiliateprograms.com pose a problem in developing affiliateprogram.com? From what I see, affiliateprograms.com was thrown together, has few real listings including NO web hosting affiliate offerings which should be a no-brainer for a site like this. The site DOES have about 2,835 backlinks, but I think that just give you a starting list of places to contact about getting a link. I don't consider this site any competition to serious development of affiliateprogram.com, should the owner also make an affiliate directory site or affiliate portal site. affiliate.com is a much better site, but is owned by an affiliate network and therefore does not need to be considered.

In my opinion, domains like this should never be sold to a single company, like the selling of toys.com to Toysrus. I feel that when you have a real premium domain like this, it is bigger than any one brand or company. As such, it's use by just one company to market their products and services is overkill, and discards to potential for selling advertising for all products on the topic.

Could this domain succeed as a directory or review site? I would say it would depend on the business plan, but yes I do think so. For sure you could do what you are doing with parkingcash.com, but I suggest you "hide" your affiliate ids. I suspect you are losing revenue because people bypass them.

Here is my idea for affiliateprogram.com, but it would require some investment: Create a nice directory for affiliate programs and all types of sites are related to affiliate progams like ebook sites and forums.

Allow people to list their sites and reqire either a smal monthly fee to be listed OR the option for the affiliate program provider to use a link that will pay you for any traffic that signs up with them.

You can offer information for affiliates, but also for companies looking for affiliate networks to help sell their products. You position the site as a great service that connects the players in this multi-billion dollar business. Then you sell it for 7 or 8 figures in a few years.

Update: If the OP would like to talk more about this, please PM me. But I am un-subscribing from this thread.

It is a very broad name, not sure a business model is really clear even though the term is quite commercial, would be selling it personally.

It could be a good name for ShareASale, CJ competition.

Either put it up on auction in one of the major auctions, if you want to sell it.

If you want to hold on to it till you get some big offers, i'd suggest an affiliate review site with lot of your own affiliate links.

You could do affiliate program reviews, thus allowing people to sign up via your affiliate referral and earn some income.

Personally, with the whole Affiliate Nexus crap could really devalue the domain, if it becomes nationwide. Personally, I'd consider selling it.

It's been explained well enough that the term isn't as hot as it'd have been a decade ago. Don't even consider developing it. Throw it on T.R.A.F.F.I.C and get it over with IMO.
