So I get an email from Enom yesterday saying:

Dear Premium .tv Portfolio Owner,

Effective immediately, all available Premium .tv names have been re-launched* with several
exciting changes:

A drastically reduced price on new Premium .tv registrations
For new Premium .tv names registered on or after March 19th, 2010, the renewal price will be the same as standard, non-premium .tv domains.
These names will not last long. Grab your names today.

So I go to Dynadot and spend a long time finding names for "standard" renewal price! DUH.

[NAMES REMOVED]

Then I go to sleep thinking I've done my best. Busy day, Huh?

Only to find today tons of messages in my account saying e.g. "Unfortunately, we have deleted the domain *****.tv from your account. This is because *****.tv is a Premium .TV Domain. The actual registration price for *****.tv is $390.00 per year. The domain ****.tv has been deleted as well. The Premium .TV Domain price for ****.tv is $300.00."

WHAT THE HELL!

What happened to "standard" renewal fees??? Is this some kind of a sick joke?

Oh and to top it off Dynadot says "our payment for the domains have been credited to your account balance."

Bloody great! A couple of Ks just spent is now locked in my friggin Dynadot account???? No names at all to show? Just a couple of Ks down the drain unless I start regging useless stuff!

This is bloody awful. :'(

It was a glitch and it was probably is the way the wording of the news that confuses people. The wording is, "For new Premium .tv names registered on or after March 19th, 2010, the renewal price will be"

Basically the renewal will be. They did not say that the registration price was going to be non premium.
I went to enom yesterday tried to register a cool dot tv it indicated $7. so I sign up, when I went to check out, it became $7+xx,xxx premium. Later to find out that I should have just register at enomcentral. At enomcentral it was $20 +premium. So today I went to register another one at enom central and noticed that they charge renwal at $49.95. In 2 days, I see 3 different regular prices (so those enom reseller must have good bargains).

Aside from that credit issue which they screwed me on also...

Even MORE upsetting is they didn't even give you the chance to decide whether or not you wanted to keep the name for whatever the actual price was.
They just threw it back out there for anyone to reg.
Not Cool!

What if you were able to pick up your name.tv, or something else you have always wanted,
then it's a no-brainer, you would probably pay that one time fee.

I sure hope that doesn't happen to any Goldrush reg's,
at least I haven't heard of that happening to anyone yet...

If I had lost the name that I really wanted then definitely it would had been really bad experience for me. Since the names that I lost were not that important so I did not care much about it. I agree their policy sucks when it comes to dropping the names and crediting the funds.

I've just got an email from Dynadot saying they will give me a refund.

I agree, Dynadot should email customers before dropping the names.

Name.com has done it the most fair way.

I'm looking through the list again now to see if there is anything..

Very Cool!
There is still hope for them. :)

These were technical glitches at Dynadot and Name.com sorry you can't blame Verisign IMO.

Despite attempts to address the "glitches" ... to many, these past 24 - 48 hours weren't exactly as advertised and/or did not meet their expectations; the end result may very well prove BAD PR for the extension and also for the upcoming .TV auction at Sedo (of course, Sedo and Verisign have had their own history of problems), IMHO. :gl:

Best regards,
Jeff B-)

I'll be really upset with Dynadot if they do the same with the names registered during the GOLDRUSH. I have some names which I really want and I'll reveal the names only after 30 days provided it is not taken back from me during the 30 day period.

Glitches were not from .tv, those who actually paid the premiums are thrilled.

DiscoverNow paid $16,500 happy with the names
JimboJimbo happy with the names he got.
Local Experts was thrilled to pay $340 for Photographer.tv acutally elated.

Sorry no matter how hard you try Dynadot and Name.com do not represent .tv they are just hucksters with fruit to sell (extensions) and one piece of fruit was not ripe.

I look forward to seeing everyone's registrations (and developments), once the dust settles! :gl:

So what you're saying ... is Dynadot and Name.com don't represent .TV? :D

Have a nice weekend,

...30 day period.

Could you please elaborate on this?

Is this something specific to the .tv TOS?

I just got off the phone with name.com's Paul Carter and he said anything not specifically mentioned in the email is yours to keep, no issues.

Samit,

Any ext apparently can void a registration during first 30 days according to TOS.

Can you elaborate on the conversation you had with Paul- which email is he referring to? And what was he basing his decision on (no issues)?

I look forward to seeing your developed sites Jeff. In any extension.

No registrars are not representatives of an extension. They are merely a sales representative. Verisign is the owner and representative of DOT TV.

But I don't own any ".TV's"; getting back on topic. :gl:

Please re-read my post, and relax ... I was simply being friendly & lighthearted above, IMHO. :)

Conversation was basically to confirm standard renewal pricing and domains for which you haven't got an email asking for the premium fee.

He confirmed that renewal pricing would be standard even for premium fee domains.

He also clearly said that anything that you haven't received an email about is yours to keep. As for what he was basing his decision on - I have no way of knowing.

I got an email from dynadot that gave me a few days to pay the premium fee for names I got for $19.95. They also said they will give me my money back and not just credit if I would like.

That's a real bummer Qoof,
Yeah I believe everyone who regged any Premiums during Landrush received the same emails.
Hopefully you got some real good .tv's during Goldrush that you like.

Yeah, got 31 during goldrush, some I think will make some heads spin, but keeping them quite till the dust settles.

Thankfully I got some names I really wanted that I happily paid premium for like baking.tv and entrepreneurs.tv.
