What should I do? Thieves trashed my car.

Some assholes broke into the garage of our apartment complex and stole every navigator they could find. I didn't even have a damn navigator and they still had to f*ck up our car. I mean, if you're gonna f*ck up my car, at least do it when I have something that's worth anything in there.

What did the police do? Nothing. They took a "report" and took some "pictures." Doubt they'll catch the thieves.

So the robbers shattered my front window completely. I'm sure my insurance does not cover this. What should I do? I am pretty broke.

I doubt you're getting anymore help from the authorities. Does your complex have video cameras.

I feel your pain, some a** whipes broke the back door on my vacant house i am selling and broke the back window, busted my breaker box of the wall, cut my electrical lines, then went outside and cut the the lines to the main breaker, i am told by the police and my insuarance company, they did this for the copper, to sell it.

No it does not. Is it possible to blame the incident on the Complex, for "lack of security?"

It's unlikely, I'll bet somewhere in that car park of in any agreement you make by parking your car there that is says you do so at your own risk.

Try to find a front windshield for your car from the car junkyard which many times have these things already stripped. If not you could do it yourself and get a bargain instead of paying much more by a garage that will "order" your front windshield.

claim on your insurance...

Will your insurance pay for it since there's a police report?

Stupid thieves. Happened to my dad a few years ago, they broke the driver's side window and messed up the ignition.

His insurance covered it, though. Took 3 weeks but they gave us a replacement van as well.

Good Luck!

I've checked with the insurance company, and it is not covered. :(

Anyone know how expensive it can be to replace a window?

What make is the car? From a scrap yard, and you change it yourself, normally around $50, but if you wanna get it replaced by a garage, and you buy a brand new window, $300-500.

I could be wrong..

OUCH! Honda parts in the UK are VERY expensive. You are in new york, and i dont know the prices there, but i would probably say i am wrong, it is probably more unfortunatly.

Repp added to try and cheer you up..

It's surprising your insurance doesn't cover this, did you make sure to explain the situation in detail? Honda Civics are the most popular cars here too, and they tend to get stolen more often; an auto garage can repair everything like new, but it can cost at least $1000 depending on extent of damage

The front window costs approx $300 , that's a new one, not from honda though, go to your local glass auto repair shop.

If you can afford a 2006 car I think you can afford the window expense.

labrocca, be nice :/

Hondas are dirt cheap to get parts for because they are common. You still looking at 300 or so.Thats strange your insurance doesn't cover it..? I don't know any Canadian insurance company that offers insurance but doesn't cover broke windows from vandalism? If it is your own fault than I can see, but..? Seriously..?

Dirty Rats

I live in the Bay Area and have had my vehicle broken into three times in the last three months. Today, they didn't break into it. Instead, someone stole the 2008 sticker off the rear tag. Life in the big city is this way.

It has been this way because the liberals and elitists keep feeling sorry for the punk criminals and giving them another chance. If the criminals were made to wear GPS ankle bracelets after serving time for their first offense, you'd probably know by now who had broken into your car.
