What makes a website good??

I would like to know what makes a website good?'Cause I look at my website and I think boring. So if somone could help me out that would be awesomo.

I think creativity makes a website good. Nothing is set in stone over opinions. I like neat designs that are easy to navigate with good color schemes. To much animation or flash can ruin a page though, but a lil' is ok. Different topics have different styles that look good.

It depends on the type of website, and what audiance you are trying to apeal to.
Its hard to give you actual specifics, like firestorm said.
Some things that always get good praise though:
clean style, not to overloaded with eyecandy, fast loading, easy navigation, orginal design and good content. Thats about it, that makes a good website.

When there is more of free things that the visitor would like to use, then it makes a website real good. Also when the website provides useful resources like w3schools.com, then the website becomes better for the visitor.

Good, significant and up-to-date content, Consistent layout that segments the content well and visitors get what they want easily, Pleasant color scheme and graphics that make a site visually appealing, Simple and easy access navigation and above all a reason for visitors to come back.

First off, unique content. I hate reading things on multiple sites! Also, try to do something that hasn't been done yet. There are quite a bit of tutorial sites and other things as well. Also, unique designs are great. I hate templated sites like I hate Bill Clinton.

i think originality and up-to-date. some website looks really bad in terms of color and design but mr and mrs smith loves it, so who cares? yes, it depends alot of target audiences i think.

Waht makes a good site isn't easy! Look at all of your responses, EVERYONE has different opinons. I think stick to a target audience and design for them. Although sometimes i like to stick with what i like xD Which can be problem LOL... do a bit of research , surveys to see what kind of things your target audience likes.. Content should suit the site name and suit what you are aiming for.

well a good website must have a good design means your eyes shouldn't get tired of visiting that site. Then it must contain good content, also you shouldn't feel alone. It should have many users like namepros do . It must have an easy name which everybody can remember. Thats about it. If you are talking about selling websites, then it must make a good revenue

Us telling you what makes a good website isn't going to help you is it? If we say it needs a good design, are you simply going to go and make a good design? No, because you admit that's already the problem.

Well, a good website is one that does exactly what it was intended for, if you've accomplished this then you have a good design.

Good content makes me come in the site (ususally I might come from a SE so it's important to have content). A unique look and feel makes me realise the webmaster does care about the site. makes me respect it and makes me wanna stay ...

Content....without a doubt. Keeping your audience wanting more through viual presentation and textual presentation. Too bad I slept away in english classes so I have to rely on visuals....lol
