Hey everyone,

I submitted a inquiry the other day to another domainer for a pretty low quality .com name. This person responded with 'What is your budget'. I almost had to laugh at how unintelligent that makes a person sound. Asking 'Make me an offer' is the same type of question but I think is better than the above as it isn't insulting someones intelligence.

Lets be realistic, even if I was an end user, do you really think that I would tell you what my budget is so you would know how much to take me for.

I can't imagine that this question actually works but thought I'd check to see what everyone else thinks?

Cheers!

Yes, very stupid and impolite question. In case that he/she don't want to state a price "Make offer" would be ok, and it is more polite.

I would say asking what your budget is ? Does sound a little too forward, but most will say feel free to make me an offer, many will not give a price or even a range, the key to negotiation is to make the other side make the first move and reveal their thoughts on value of the item.
