What is wrong with domainers

What is going on here? I leave for a couple years to pursue other ventures. I am back now... possibly...

I keep seeing things in the forum that really irk me though. For example:

"No low ball offers please" This has to be my biggest one. At least throw something in saying what range you are expecting. 99% of the ones I see, I wouldn't even pay 20$ for your domain, so "low ball" really? At least put "I'm looking for high $XX or mid $XXX or low $XXXX. But you can't because your domain is not even worth that much.

OVER INFLATION OF YOUR DOMAINS. I was looking for a motorcycle recently and found that all of craigslist is over-inflating the price of their bikes. There are two main reasons for this. 1. they paid too much to begin with and 2. they have emotional attachments to them. I will not pay an exuberant price for your domain just because you overpaid to begin with. Also if you have an emotional attachment to it, you might as well keep it. This is a domain forum, if you want end user pricing go sell it to an end user, not other domainers.

I really love namepros, this place has been and always will be my home. I guess I am just tired of people in general. Time to recluse into my cabin. I say these few complaints just to maybe give even long time domainers a heads up to what people may be thinking of you... "no low ball offers... lol" prices are subjective. There isn't a high priced domain section anymore here for a reason, and your domain is not in there. So don't get mad when I offer 20$ for a 20$ domain name.

Speaking of high priced domains, does anyone know where they are selling these lately? I left the domain world to pursue other business and am just getting back. Good to see that prices have dropped, I may be able to snag some good ones :)

Mj,

First of all a huge welcome back ....Missed you around these parts! I agree that a stipulation on what exactly the seller would consider a low ball offer should be a standard bit of information. I also think that if your selling your domains on a domain forum your prices should be reflective of the reseller market. I guess I got lucky and learned early on that emotional attachment to any domain is not a good thing. I look at domains as pieces in a chess game and move them accordingly.

I hope you come back to the business ....we need some more old timers who can share wisdom and knowledge with the new blood. We have lots of new blood that need help in direction and objectives. I wish to see you more around these parts and hit me up with a pm at some point ;)

Cheers

P.S. The buyers market is great with sellers dropping the prices very low to trim the portfolio and keep their head above water.

I'm disappointed with the withdrawl of the "High Priced Domains Forum". It means all those members with really good names to sell are thrown in with the newbs who quote thousands for their 1 week old names in the main marketplace. Definitely should be reconsidered!

I agree that you should have a range of some sort if you are looking for offers. Not that that means people will follow it :bah::)

I personally don't care if people "over price". It's their name...I just won't be buying it and I move on.
All prices are subjective and there are people here looking to sell to the end users that do come to the forum...as is their prerogative.

And another one is the "educated offers". They don't know how much they want but they want "educated offers" from you. :|
We all know we are hoping to get the best we can...just putting a range would really help.

But all said I started out doing some of the same things (and probably still do...I can just blame it on age now:guilty:). You just pick up the way of doing things and pricing as you go along and use what works for you.

If I don't like the way a sale is presented I just move on. LOTS of domains for sale.

And...I also try and remember that just because I don't thing a name is worth X$ doesn't mean it isn't. Just not worth it to me.

Happy domain hunting,

j
