The search volumn that is shown in the Keyword Tool does vary depending on the mode you are searching with, so you need to keep that in mind. But I think it is
I did some searches for "web design minneapolis" without the quotes.
web design minneapolis broad search is 2,900
[web design minneapolis] exact search is 720
"web design minneapolis" phrase search is 880
Generally you can tell what the word order is that most people will use, but if you are not sure you can test every variation:
[web design minneapolis]
[web minneapolis design]
[design web minneapolis]
[design minneapolis web]
[minneapolis web design]
[minneapolis design web]
Sometimes you can find one others that are good or perhaps even better than the one you start with. In this case:
[web design minneapolis] 720
[minneapolis web design] 1,000
The first, largest number seems to be made up of these two, pluse other variations such as:
[minneapolis web site design] 91
[web page design minneapolis] 16
[minneapolis web design company] 22
This is interesting and I learned a couple of things, but I normally don't use the keyword Tool bacause I know what I am looking for, I just need traffic. To get that and also to find out what the bids are running, I use the
Traffic Estimator. With that you MUST understand that using brackets [keyword keyword] or quotes "keyword keyword" or nothing each will give you different results.
The more potential traffic the better, but if you are thinking in terms of parking, the bid average is a serious consideration. I go for high bid amounts. If I can get $1 a month my domains can pay for themselves. If I get 6 clicks in a year and each is for $5 that's $30. One thing to keep in mind is that if the potential traffic is low, then there may not be much competition.
