"What is Domain Authority?

Domain Authority (DA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERP). Domain Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.

We calculate Domain Authority combining many of our other link metrics — linking root domains, number of total links, MozRank, MozTrust, etc. — into a single DA score. This score can then be used when comparing one site to another or tracking the "ranking strength" of a website over time.

To help Domain Authority calculations approximate actual ranking positions, we employ machine learning against Google's algorithm to best model how their search engine results are generated."

Domain Authority (DA) is a website metric developed by moz. It is one of the most important numbers known to SEOs. The greater your DA, the more likely you are to have strong traffic and high rank

Why are we bumping a 2 year old thread that has the definitive answer in the first reply?

so, DA is for domain or for website? I noticed people request to buy high DA domain, is that means the domain itself was developped? does a brand new registed domain have DA?

DA is Domain Authority, PA is Page Authority.

Think of DA/PA as googles' PageRank multiplied by 10. Google doesn't show PR anymore, but it is there, just hidden. So MOZ is using the void and guestimates the PR*10.

For example, NamePros DA is 55, PA 50 (the index page authority). Which is strange. I was expecting higher number, given the age, popularity and number of references around the web.

What metrics do domainers use more often when deciding what domains to acquire? Majestic and Moz show very different thing. A domain with high TR can have low DA, and vice versa. So, if we are only concerned about flipping, which metrics would take priority?
