:hi:

Parking a domain would really only make sense if the domain has natural type in traffic and you set up the Parking page with relevant ads.

This way if the domain is earning some income you will be in a better position to bargain up your selling price.

This is because many people that see a domain Parking Page consider it that you really aren't doing anything with the domain and they don't want to pay too much for it.

If you are making $, you can dispute that notion.

It may be less true today since Parking income is down but often times a domain that gets natural type in traffic can earn more than if developed at least in the short term. Long term could prove otherwise.

If you can develop your non-type in domains, you can certainly increase their perceived value.

This could also protect you in case someone wants your domain and files a UDRP claim against you.

A Parked domain could hurt you in that case. :imho:

Wouldn't a typo domain of a high trafficked site be one example?.

Many low traffic, high CTR keyword domains do much better parked than developed.

If I were to choose I would develop a small site on a good domain and do some basic link building and SEO. Then wait for it to get a good PR and then sell it for a profitable price :)

key phrase there is short term, I have developed quite a few of my domains in the last 4 months say 81 or so and I notice earnings drop compared to pay per click but after a few months I can say more than half are now sitting on the front page of google and the revenue has increased along with traffic as it's a rare occurrence to get parked domains to rank, tricolorros post is pretty much spot on, a lot of domainers develop something and then as soon as the revenue falls they give up but if they stuck it out or experimented with different methods they would find that development can lead to better google rankings which not only produces similar or greater income on most domains but also drives end user sales leads, there are some domains that will make more parked so that is a personal call of do you want the higher revenue on those or do you prefer the better google ranking, for me if it's anything I intend to hold long term I go for the better google ranking, if the domain isn't something I can see myself owning in a few years I'll rarely put the work in to develop it

If they both receive the same amount of traffic it wont matter and you should get inquiries on either with a noticeable sales/inquire link. If both have zero traffic then generally a developed domain will end up with better google position which will produce traffic, revenue and possible sales leads as a developed site on page 1 or 2 of google is better than a parked domain found on page 30 if found at all.
