In case you were wondering, what a blink is this article about, well seat tight. This article is recap of some of the major event that transpires in the domain industry why you were busying with other things life throws your way in April 2006.

The month of April brought some good news as well as not so great. Among the great news was the lunching of EU. The not so great include trouble in paradise with MSN. Here is a synopsis of what went down in April 2006.

The Birth of .EU
European Domainers gave EU a warm reception by registering more than 2 million domain names in the first two weeks. Surprisingly Germany whose economic has one of the highest unemployment rate had the most registered domain (474 835 .eu), closely followed by United Kingdom (297, 323 .eu), The Netherlands (176,514 .eu) and Italy (88 675 .eu).

Rewarding Email, Cellular, etc Users with a Domain Extension (TEL)
ICANN, the agency responsible for assigning domain extension is thinking about rewarding email, blackberry, cell phone, etc user with a new domain extension (TEL).
Dot Tel โ€œwill make it possible for people to manage all their contact information online.โ€

Millions to Be Made in Dotcom Biz
First, it was Sex.com for $12 million and then it was On.com going for $635,000 and Macau.com for $550,000. With this amount of money, it did not come as a surprise to me that all the major newspapers took notice.

Stop MSN If You Can
What first appear to be a minor glitch turns out to be a major headache for millions of people whose lives depends on MSN. In statement release by the company the outage, began about 8:30 a.m. and later restored sometime around 12:15 p.m., users who tried to find Web pages were told the service was unavailable and that, "Our team is working to restore service as quickly as possible."

โ€ฆ Seattle โ€ฆ Next Silicon Valley
Microsoft, the world biggest software and video games maker is leading the way for what promise to be the feature silicon valley, Seattle. The trend started in the 70s when Microsoft was born, but since then several companies such as Expedia.com, InSpace, Starbucks, Amazon.com, Onvia, Micron, Infocus, Amgen, Drugstore.com, Unova and BlueNile have all found a home in either Seattle or it vicinity.

Who Bought Major.com?
Some of the non-blockbuster domain sales include e84.com ($1,305), hardlenders.com ($905) and gravesites.com ($783) all sold through Aftermarket a Godaddy.com company.
However, Sedo made some blockbuster sales that included 120.com, which went for $12,000 and Major.com for 48,000 Euro.

AOL & Google in Possible Buyout Talk
Sources familiar with the buyout talks, who ask that his identity not be, disclosed, stated that AOL is in talk with Google for a possible buyout. I promise to keep you abreast of any further development. Sorry you have just been April fool.

The Answer is what is Domain Roundtable
For three days domain investors, gurus, CEOs, and domain industry experts all lay aside their different for the good of the domain industry. This solidarity took place in Bellevue, Washington at Domain Roundtable conference. You can read the rest of the news at www.domainroundtable.com.
