You make an interesting point on the puma.tv
It opens up the age old debate on usage,for me the best case scenario with regging this is puma sportswear come calling offer $1500 (the cost of filing a udrp)you accept,I would feel very uncomfortable about the udrp lottery if they decided to go that route,
However given that puma is not a nike or adidas type of brand it is not a slam dunk win for them, a site about pumas or even a new company selling electronic items should be protected if a legitimate site or business.
In this instance I see nothing wrong with owning puma.tv ,if there is nothing even close to their tm goods on the site,including parked ads.
But who knows how a udrp would see it,and would it be worth fighting it if it ever happended ?,given you really only have one end user that is ever going to want it.

Going back to the list, there seems to be a lot of garbage names being registered IMO.

Bob I agree with your thinking, I think though you never know what happens if it goes UDRP. You can never park the name because even if you optimize for big cats, it could show an add for PUMA. Its risk vs reward, if you are going after a big payday with risk ok, but with little reward why bother you don't need the nonsense. PUMA is not as big as Nike or Adidas but pretty well recognized, in UDRP most would think it was bad faith imo. But you are right you could love big cats and have a site about them. This name has a force field on it for a resale because most potential buyers will worry about buying it because of Puma the company.

I consider the puma name to fall into the category of 'risky but defendable' name. Generally I avoid these as I have a low appetite for legal hassola.

I used to own Patterns.TV so I like to see that picked up.

Puma could be used for anything in terms of branding as it is a cat and generic but the problem is that Puma is so big and so huge that they probably have most markets covered - media, clothing, sportswear etc. It's one thing taking a name that is a TM but another when it's a huge TM.

Reality? I doubt Puma gives a crap about this domain.

I like unified.tv though.
