What Exactly Is Overture?

Can someone explain to me what overture is? Does it have to do w/ keywords?

Advertisers pay overture to be listed higher in the search results for specific keywords. The advertiser that bids the highest on the keyword, gets the highest ranking in their search results.

Overture provides a tool to its advertisers that helps them find common keywords to bid on. So if you sell fish tanks, you can use the overture search term suggestion tool:
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

type in fish tanks and it will tell you thak 62455 people searched for fish tanks last month in their search engine. Under that it will tell you related terms that were also searched for.

Web developers and domainers use the overture search term suggestion tool to see which are the most popular keywords (which keywords were search for the most), and which keywords are related to their industry.
