What exactly is Domain Parking

I have a basic understanding of parking. You turn your domain over to parking services which set them up to bring in income if they are viewed and links are clicked correct? So this is to be done with domains that are sitting around with no future plans, or at least for the time being? If a domain is parked and you figure out what you want to do with it, can you pull it at any time and start working on it yourself?

Alot of you do domain parking but i dont see a sticky telling about it in detail. Just wondering if you guys can talk a little on what it is. Thanks

Yes you have it right.

Most domainers park a name while they
are waiting to develop it or sell it.

With nearly all parking companies, you can end the parking agreement at any time... it's as simple as pointing the DNS away from their program.

Several parking services have to accept you into their program,
but most are as simple as filling out a short application.

If you have domains sitting around collecting dust, parking them is a
great way to turn your names into steady income.. if you have no plans for them.

For some of us, parking a domain is the final stop

Parking it until it sells is the plan of many of us out there.

dont feel stupid.

I've let many names sit dormant and then let them just
expire.

now that's stupid (if you have a name of ANY quality at all)

We've all been there (and lower in my case)

Learn as much as you can here and jump in

However, parking does not pay at all unless you have a premium domain name. I made $0.06 last month from 15 domains. I'm still trying things out to see what I can do to enhance my traffic.

domain parking does not stop just by pointing your domain to a parking site, you should develop it and promote it too.

I agree this is helpfull. I tried to it without any real knowledge and made a few minor and major mistakes. now I am trying to learn all I cam about parking.

one way is to submit your domains to web directories, create a site to list your domains, post everywhere you can and get links to your domains or website with your domain list. there are many other ways, but this is just an easy one.
you could use also ebay.
