What email software do you use to send out emails to prospect buyers?

I was wondering what some of you guys use to send out emails to prospect buyers for your domain(s).
Personally i am looking for a solution to personalize each email (mail merge) and a option to check the emails opened by the recipient. (Email tracking)

I have found such a solution but it's a bit hefty in the price so if one of you guys use a free solution or cheaper then $250 USD then please share.

Solutions to be installed on the server (Hosted Solutions) or desktop solutions.

Really? Tracking and mail merge as well Allan?
Could you tell me more about this, is this possible by using a certain extension?

Tracking is completely built in (read receipt, delivery receipt, etc.)

I have mail-merge built in on this computer, although I do not use it, and I don't know if our techs did something to add it in or not.

If it doesn't , I'm sure some creative kid has done an extension to do just that - just check mozilla.com

Question about that receipt thing, is this visible to the receiver of the email?
Does the receiver has to confirm the receipt or is this done entirely in the background?

Good point about the Mozilla website, there are a quazillion extensions made so there must be a extension that helps makes things easier for sending out emails.

I found this extension which is the only extension by the way that i found that has mail merge capabilities when composing emails.

I have to try it out to see if it's what i am looking for. I am not sure if it has custom tags for merging certain keywords though.

I agree on the Mozilla suggestion. That's what I currently use to manage all my business related mail.

I just send out a test email to a free email account and i checked "read confirmation" in the top toolbar but i did not recieve anything in my Thunderbird inbox.

So this type of tracking in Thunderbird is not very reliable at all i suppose.

The "read confirmation" relies on the receiving party using an email client that supports that feature (outlook, thunderbird, etc.). Most web based email clients don't.

/usr/bin/sendmail :)

Seriously though, Thunderbird is a great (and free) program.

Have you looked at Constant Contact? They have a 60 day free trial and I think they have all the features you are looking for.

Though it's been quite a long time since I used it, I think you can have as many as 100 contacts in your list during the trial period. I believe you can also switch out your list during the trial period so you can change the list for each group you are trying to target.

If you decide to give them a try, PM me and I'll send you my affiliate referal code in case you decide to stay with them after the trial.

Sure send me the link, if it's to my liking then using the referal link is not a problem at all.

Thanks :tu:
