What does this mean?

On domaintools when doing a WHOIS:

later.

It's been like this for 2 months already for this domain that I do a whois on and it's showing it's not registered and available. I even managed to add this to my cart about 2 months ago and pay for it, got an email a day later it was no longer available + refund.

I'm assuming it just expired but I'm not seeing it on any drop lists but I could've sworn I did a whois on this domain 4 or 5 months ago and it was in pending delete status (?)

I have seen that message on occasion at DomainTools. I believe they use cache records and do not retrieve new data for every query. What does it say directly at VeriSign?

Do you know the registrar?
Try them direct. It could be that they have non-conforming whois response or their whois server is down (2 months?).

Seen similar at godaddy /"domainmonster for very short periods
