When you have domains that you are not about to renew -- what do you do before they expire.

List them on a 7 day aution on TDNAM..? Auction them here at NP or what..

This is one part of the domain my domain biz that I dont handle very well. I usually let about 2-3 domains expire each month. In my efforts to slowly build a better portfolio. I just havent felt like its worth unloading names for 10-15.. and would even anybody buy since the expirations are just around the corner...

thoughts - startegies...??????

He's telling the truth - look at todays live auction!

Most people either auction them in the live auction (if they've got over 30 days left), auction or sell them on the main board for NP$, or just give them away.

B33R is none of those people. ;)

If I had some I wasn't renewing, I'd find someone else who wanted them and give them away to a good home. :)

Thanks for asking that question Fleege. I have let about 50 domains just drop in the last two months. If I had the money to renew then, I would have. [at least some of then]. I have wanted to ask this question, but I think that it was asked before with very few replies. I wish there was a thread where these domains could be posted, just in case someone would be interested. With the number of domains bought from "dropped domains", at a good price, I think Namepro members should at least have a chance to check them out before they go on the dropped domain sites. I guess maybe there is a reason why this is not done.

Good Luck
Patches :)

what I do, is sit and watch them drop and go for $xxxx...
I used to get angry/sad...etc.... now, I know its just newbies fighting each other over something I know isnt worth it (assuming I have the traffic stats and have analyzed the domains, which I do).
I had a domain once going for sale for like $20, just to get rid of it.
I was informed by a fellow domainer that it went for $1270 on pool.

as in just not worrying about them? That is what I have been doing and I was looking to see how other domainers handle their expiring "unwanted" domains.

Some good replies. Thanks.

I only let really bad domains drop. When I have the time I offer them for sale before they expire to see if someone else wants them (which is usually not the case... they really are that bad).

I'll renew even average and below average non-typo domains as there is a possibility that someone will want to buy them at an attractive price.

Think about it... if you have 100 domains they cost about $600 a year to maintain. If you can sell only one of those domains at $1,000 to a dedicated end user, it covers the $600 and the rest is profit.

Before you let good or even average domains drop due to lack of money, post them for sale or PM me.

About a week ago, I posted that I had a few hundred dot coms expiring in August and asked what to do with them...or if anyone would just take a look and see if they thought any were worth renewing. Although 20 or so people went to practicedomain.com to see the list, no one sent any picks or even said they were ugly enough to let die. That was a little disappointing.

Sometimes things work out though, this morning a guy e-mailed me and offered $xxx for one. What a pleasant surprise! Made me look again at what I might be letting go. Still have to let many expire, though...hope it's just the stinkers, but I've lived with them long enough not to be able to evaluate them...that's why I wanted some new eyes...was even willing to pay a little...no takers. Go figure. Still looking for some help, but will probably do a massive rummage sale in a day or two. We'll see.

just let one expire this week. I am thinking: since I am very busy, if I sell $NP or offer for free, I may not have enough time to respond to people, thus may get a negative feedback. That is why I let it drop.
