What CAN GoDaddy catch?

I have been rolling over 5 or 6 backorders @ godaddy for literally months on end now- they never ever catch any of the names I backorder with them. Now, I understand the competition, and the fact that any of their names that expire they auction off publically @ tdnam, and network solutions have snap etc etc, but they must be able to catch something to justify the service...

What names can Godaddy catch? Are their certain registrars whose dropping names I have more of a chance with?
Just want to successfully get some so I can stop having to reallocate the backorders every 3 or 4 days!

Thanks!

I have been able to catch about 1 in 20 backorders that I have placed. A couple times I found that godaddy was able to catch a domain before snapnames/pool/enom, I placed backorders at all three, and godaddy still beat them, but this is more of the exception than the norm.

I've caught a number of .us, info, and .biz names, and even a couple .net. The competition for .com is fierce though. godaddy only has a few registrars working for them, where snapnames and pool each have many. Godaddy is good for more obscure names, but not those with broad mass market appeal. If the name is worth between $20 and $75, then godaddy is a good way to get it. If its over $60, you may as well try all major sources.

Taster names

I had the same problem. I was trying to use up one credit for months. I finally got one name after it had been tasted for about two weeks.

Keep the backorder in place if it looks like the domain is just being tasted and Godaddy might be able to grap it.

I've had some luck with made-up/developable domains other then that they've always dropped the ball...

You are better off to stick with Pool.com and Snapnames.com, I don't think (or haven't heard of) GoDaddy working to make any aggrements with other registrars to catch names.

GoDaddy is pretty much only good for GoDaddy domains. Network Solution, Register, Dotster (to name a few) will always go to SnapNames first. Pool has some arragements, I'm not familiar with who but they have a better chance of getting actual dropped names.

If you are serious about this, you need to accept the fact that you'll have to pay at least $40-$61 for a dropped name.

Thanks for all your comments. I already use snap and pool for most names, but I have 5 credits left at Godaddy and they can't catch anything! (decent). They won't take backorders on .co.uk's nor 2 character names, (although I appreciate this is aiming too high!).
Does godaddy's backorder service work for their own names,? Or is it just ones that nobody wanted when they did the tdnam expired auction a couple of weeks before?
My real question is that- if all Godaddy's names go through tdnam first, then obviously all the good names will go before reaching the people who have placed backorders (I can't tell you how many issues I have with the legitamacy of this), so is there another registrar who's names godaddy can catch, which aren't offered for auction on tdnam before they drop?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you backorder a GoDaddy name early enough you will get to own it if it expires without any competition.
