What Can Cause A Huge Jump In Domain Offer Views On Sedo?

Is it posssible that bots are doing offer views or are people actually doing all of the offer views. It spiked from 2 views to 20 and then from 20 to 51 the following day.

Also, do more offer views on Sedo offer any indication that a domain has a better possibility of being sold than one that has only one offer view?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

One thing that could cause a significant increase in number of views of your sales page @ sedo is maybe some news about a product or something else upcoming with this exact name. You should google the name (also google news, etc.) and see if there is something interesting.
Also check out other extensions of your domain. If there is another website developed with this name and an other extension. If you have the .com, you could have some traffic loss from that site, etc.
Also another reason could be if you changed the sale format , for instance from make offer to fixed price, etc. and that it displayed at godaddy and that people who look for fixed price domains checked out your listing, but personally i don't think this has such an effect on numbers which you mentioned.

I'm not sure about the reason why, but I've had the same thing happen to one of my domains and it did not bring in any offers.

No, neither of these are the case. I had already checked for news and extensions. And it has been on a "make offer" basis since I put it up 2 weeks ago. I have never seen a spike like that before where over 20 views take place in a day two days straight. I figured it to be a glitch of some kind.

Are offer views a good indication of a possible sale in the near future? Or do "1 view offers" sell just as well as domains with multiple views?

That's what is happening here...no offers. I don't understand that. Personally, when I am looking for domains, I don't even click to view the offer page if the price or minimum offer is right there in the window. If I don't like the offer minimum or the buy now price, it makes no sense for me to view the offer page. I have one of the domains set on minimum offer and the other is on a buy now option.

Hi, FYI; the offer views do not relate to traffic to a landing page etc.

From sedo in F&Q offer views below. It is the number of times your offer page has been viewed via sedo in one month. ;)

"This number is not related to traffic to the associated website or parked domain."

Is it not possible in the sedo settings, that you have it parked and forwarding to the offer page?

I've had this happen a few times and I wondered if someone had shared a link to the page in a company or group. Didn't lead to a sale. But several times I have seen a domain suddenly go from 0 to a modest 2 or 3 offer page views a day and then a fixed price sale.

Also I think sometimes categories of domains get scraped on Sedo - someone may be collecting price data. There is a member here who has done some nice scraping sites on families of domains.

And Sedo does have glitches.

Not sure about glitches, my sedo portfolio offer view' changes each month, but there are domains that have a continual stream throughout the months (50% of names); for instance, increased in 'offer view' from 400 to over a 1000+ with other regular 'offer view' names decreasing. There seems to be correlation.
