Over @ GD renewing a name and saw the sale for $9.99 for a new .tv. Wow how low are they gonna go? This is going to speed up awareness of the TLD. But how long will this sale go on for and what is really going on between Verisign and GD.

Unbelievable!!!!

What's really going on at GD? They are simply rocking! :)

Better, I should read their TOS before regging the names! :music:

It's great the prices have dropped so much but
I wonder when their going to work on
the renewal fees. I bought one last week for 12.99 and
renewed another for 39.99 that sucks!

They had better lower the renewal fee. $39.99 is too much comparing to other registrars where the renewal fee is e.g. $25 (Namecheap). Many domainers might register their .TVs with Godaddy and then just transfer to an other registrar.

Perfect to see them taking their .tv marketing this serious!

The reg fee of a .tv is now close to a .com, quite unbelievable.

Would be nice to see the renewals down also :hehe:

Go Daddy! Incredible. Its a great strategy to attract a large base of new end-user regs and then upsell (godaddy's specialty) all the addon services. We can always wish for the cheaper renewals, although that MAY be part of the strategy. Autorenew on, and average joe pays the high renewals. In any event, its great .TV exposure!

Good news to have you onboard then :)
(reg wisely, there are still many available, don't reg the first ones you think are good, like I did when I started, my mistake)

Just noticed that although the renewals are still expensive you can reg an available name for multiple years for their $9.99 price, even up to 10 years.

With the 10% discount it really comes close to .com, good news :)

If GoDaddy wants to keep the tv that are regged now must have the same ffe next year, since this cannot happen he can develop tools as DM did so they keep people on their side, developing their tv's and depending on them.

First you take people on ur side with low prices,
then you make them feel good about it,
then you make some tools so they can trust you and work with you
and finally you make prices normal for tv market and keep all the
satisfied customers plus you take some dissapointed from DM.

There become different regging strategies

A domain you know you are going to build around reg for 10 years $91 with the 10 %

A domain you want to sell reg for two years on day 61 transfer to ENOM $25 so you got 3 years for $43 $18 for 2 at GD plus the 1 at $25 on the transfer

Plus in selling domains you can factor that in I mean regging a .tv for 5 years and costing you $45 and then showing a buyer how he has 5 years or $125 to as much as $200 in savings is a value add to any purchase

In the interview with Bob Parsons it would be good to ask if he plans on lowering the renewals before next year.

Bwahahahahah. That Bob. He must really want that contract.

As far as I am concerned, he has done more for tv in the last 2 weeks than dm has done.

I am not a fan of GoDaddy myself, but Frigging Rock On Bob!

Keep in mind, for those that reg .TVs through GoDaddy...

any domain you register with them get s you some free tools (with ads), in fact I think they still give you a free quick blog, quick podcast, sitebuilder, and some other interesting features that allow you to at least semi-develop the domains, if that is your desire.

But the overall strategy for GoDaddy is pretty amazing... come next year when some registrants are faced with a high renewal fee, they'll simply drop the names and godaddy will have more filler domains for their TDNAM.com marketplace. genius.

my mistake was regging about 20 over the weekend, in case the price went up, but fortunately I held back on the other 20 I'll be regging right now. LOL.

good luck to all.

My plan is to switch a month before they expire to who ever has the best deal. At this point I think a lot will happen between now and a year from now so who knows what will happen.

You got me crazy... :'(

But no, the 10 % won`t apply since it was an already discounted price.

I'm considering this, too, but I'm afraid my domains could get lost (could be stolen) somehow during the transfer process.

Well I really didnt think it would get any lower than $12.99.

Got to agree with Showbix - GD have really done an amazing job of creating a buzz for .tv.

Now where is that list of names I didn't yet reg.

Alex

P.S.

Does anyone think that they will go lower than $9.99 ?? Or do you think thats the rock bottom price that they will go ??
