i was wondering
if someone changes the dns of a certain site shouldnt the effect be between the next hour to 12 hours
now i had the dns of a domain at NP changed for 24 hours still havnt got any update the old site content still is appearing

what is that /?

This depends on the TTL for the domain, which could be as long as 72 hours. When you transfer a domain you always want to change the time out to an hour or so, otherwise it will be cached by dns servers for much longer.

use the "dig" command on a linux server. ex: dig domain.com

still the domain showing old info :(

if i press the reset botton on my domain managment and enter the dns i want will it get my site down much (how much)

I would email your registrar and ask them to push your domains dns out to the root servers again.
