Website Review - Banner advice

Hi,

I need some ideas on down toning the banner of this site:

It's to dominant but they want it to stay in there "as it is". Any suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks.

Maybe make the background more transparent and enlarge the header text.

Very unique header you have there. As for toning it down, you could always put a color tone to it. If using photoshop, Ctrl-U and colorize. Then adjust the hue/saturation, etc. Hope this helps.

Hi,

The header was actually a painting on a company's wall - but they had to expand their office and it was destroyed. It's to live on online.

I'll look into the toning.

Wow that sticks out. Make it a blue and make the images all fade into each other then set the opacity light so it almost looks like a watermark...

Anyway, you could make it less prominent by changing it's transparency and blending it into the top section I think...blending it into the background color for the sides would look nice too...

in photoshop (as I assume you are using) create a new layer, fill it with white then choose from the layer blending menu "Overlay" and adjust the opacity accordingly!

My suggestion is much the same as the others: add a layer on top, fill it and adjust the transparency.

A business layout can never be too simple: it needs to be as user-friendly and idiot proof as possible in order to reach the broadest audience. 'Difficult' is the antonym of 'simple', and you don't want your site to be difficult.

I like your navigation and how you've used the uber-links, but it could be 'modernized' a little.

Modernized as in...? Any advice?

I wanted simple (and it still looks to playful in my op) but the company is well known, creative and really good - they did not want a serious-designy site but something...friendly-inclusive.

The banner in my opinion attracts to much attention but as I said...it's important to them. Actually, blue was my best guess also. I tried it and it looks nice.

Don't understand what you guys mean about the fading...like to hear more there.
