IT market is big in UK, so it's not a surprise why webdesign.co.uk was sold for such price :)

do you think that .co.uk domains are more valuable than .uk ones?

.co.uk domain names have been BIG for years here in the UK, as you are most likely american or from another country you won't have an idea on how much .co.uk is used, which it is.

It is also interesting to see that it sold more than the .net domain name, for a business site such as webdesign.co.uk it is better imo to have the .co.uk ext if the company is targeting a UK market.

So as I say, if your not in the UK you really won't notice how widely used the ext is.

I think that NP should provide .co.uk domain registration service for NP$.
Isn't it a good idea?

Second level .uk domain names do not exist, except for one, which is the Network Information Centre for the UK, which can be located at http://www.nic.uk

I was thinking, and you all should consider this:

  • webdesign.net went for $19,999 on eBay not too long ago
  • webdeisgn.co.uk went for $45,747.71 at Sedo just a few days ago

The .co.uk ccTLD went for 2.29 times that of the .net

I think that says something about the power of ccTLD's and their future.

:gl: Just something to think about...

.uk is for Government and its services like the .gov ext only. The general public will never be able to register the .uk i am afraid and that comes straight from Nominet.

I have tried being a credited .co.uk registered registrant with my main business. So it is only .co.uk and .org.uk etc etc for the UK

doesnt bother me though .co.uk is a great extension i personally believe that is why the indian .co.in is more popular at the moment due to the .co being recognised.
