hey

i have very little knowledge of HTML and i really dont want to start learning it. i got an html kit which does it all for you but still it was difficult and i couldnt figure it out really.

i had dreamweaver but i got rid of it because it was weird and would do things completely diffrent than when i had originally created. it also had a lot of unnecessary html which was strange.

does anyone know of any software that is atually good lol? dreamweaver wsnt bad but still it ws limiting. i need one that will let me do as much as i can (forms, inpage scrolling etc.) without havibng to come into that much contact with raw html. its a lot to ask for but still, any ideas?

PS. how do you do he inpage scrolling that can be seen at pages like http://www.chavscum.co.uk no offence meant at any by the way

Dreamweaver's about the best you can get, to my knowledge anyway. Adobe GoLive might be better for you but I've heard that dreamweaver's the best. You might have to start writing the HTML yourself if you don't like the code WYSIWYG (What Youu See Is What You Get) editors produce.

Wysiwig programs like dreamweaver are good if you want to be able to create a quick page but if you are serious about learning webdesign forget dreamweaver all it does is teaches you bad habits, i wish i never bothered to learn it i can produce far better pages in textpad and i got to learn xhtml and css alot better.

Chavscum is actually a well designed page. To get the middle bit to scroll they using scrolling divs

a good tutorial-> http://www.htmlite.com/faq015.php

Dreamweaver is the #1 tool for you if you're not very familiar with coding. Download it again, install it and learn how to use it properly :) I've used DW since v1 as a general layout tool, then edited the code myself. However, you do NOT have to edit any code if you don't want to. All the things you listed as a requirement DW can handle with ease, it's just a matter of knowing how to do it. You can make simple websites with DW, you can make database driven dynamic websites of major proportions :)

The inpage scrolling you are referring to can be achieved in several ways, iframes is one of them. If you don't know much about them I suggest you go to http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/frames.html#h-16.5 and read a little about it.

We have a solution that will allow you to do all those things easily without html. If you have a site design we can integrate it as well. You can find out more at builtsmarter.com

Dreamweaver is the best in my opinion. If that doesn't suit your needs, you're going to have to learn how to develop manually. XHTML and CSS are very easy to learn, and if you have programming experience you'll find JavaScript and PHP easy too. There's a wealth of information available online, but if you're like me, you'll prefer books. Go to Half.com and you'll find some second hand books for very low prices.

Hey guys, i am new too, but isnt Dreamweaver V E R Y expensive??
I am just asking because from the chat you had over here, you didnt mention this, and i thought its like a free program... lol :bingo:

How about the frontpage program??

The only program i have used is pagebuilder of geocities... I builded 3 websites with that, and I want to learn a bit more now about codes...
