Was this URL spoofing?

Today, I loaded PayPal.com (http://paypal.com), and was about to log in when I noticed that the lock icon (I'm using IE) was missing. The page wasn't encrypted. Do you think this was a case of URL spoofing? I loaded PayPal again, and loaded it with https, and the lock icon was present.

That's a good question... but personally I think that your browser made a mistake or something, because that has never happened to me. Just a mixup or something

that could turn out to be a very expensive and unfortunate mixup if people monitoring url spoofs push the buttons

I'd switch to FF or Opera if I was you..

I would definitely recommend FireFox over IE in this case!

FF wasn't installed on that computer, or I would have been using it

I'm not too fond of firefox, tho. I use a browser called avant. I recommend it to EVERYone. It's great. It NEVER causes me any troubles, and its got more features than FF, IE, Netscape, etc.
