VPS hosting

Hello,

Could somebody explain me what is VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting?

I read that into one server you can put more OS and many users can share one machine, but I don't know if this system is handled by a Virtual Machine or someother...

Please let me know about it, because I would buy another server and start with new services...

It is the same as a dedicated but with shared resources so you can have mutiple accounts on one dedicated all running without interuption to each other like on shared hosting.

you share cpu time and get part of the mrmory and a share of the hdd space.
basically each vps runs on its own and can be restarted etc... doesnt affect others because it sits on top of the base os

The best thing about VPS is that you can have root access like the dedicated servers.
However, its not as expensive as dedicated servers due to its "shared" resource nature.

Overall, VPS is a perfect way to start and pave your way towards an actual dedicated server.
