According to a press release out today KV Spirits LLC has purchased the domain name KorsVodka.com, for $750,000

“Made from the same old recipe that was enjoyed by the Royals over a century ago, Kors is known as being the most exclusive, handmade, limited edition Vodka, and is priced up to $24,500 per bottle.”

Vodka.com was sold for $3 Million dollars by legendary domain name investor Roy Messer.

“It’s certainly worth mentioning as a record-breaker of its own.” Harris adds that the dynamic sale was confirmed by several sources including the representatives of new owner KV Spirits and BH Escrow company who handled the transaction from an undisclosed seller.”

“KV Spirits LLC, a representative of Kors Vodka, reports sales to notables such as athletes, rappers, celebrities and business professionals with discriminating taste. Known as the “Tsar’s Vodka” due to it being distilled using the same century old recipe made for the Russian Tsar Nicholas II and King George V of England, the drink is unsurpassed. Made using an extraordinary diamond distillation process that includes water from Italian Alps running through real gold distillation tubes Kors Vodka becomes a forerunner in the industry.

An experience all its own the vodka is stored in a luxurious presentation.

Kors Vodka comes in a handmade crystal bottle with 24 karat gold decorations embellishing what is already a lovely showpiece in and of itself.”

I’ll take two.

KorsVodka.com: Creation Date: 25-oct-2012 - never regged before that date
$750k - for a domain that's 2 years old? I rather think they would have gone the much cheaper route of filing a UDRP since it was obviously a bad faith reg if it was indeed some random domainer who regged the name first.
'kors' and 'kors vodka' both have trademark applications pending as of 2013 and 2014, but both also say 'opposition pending'.

My guess is the same as #NewbieKid, I think it's a stunt. If it wasn't a stunt, then the Kors people can go down in history as one of the stupidassed domain buyers in history...
1 - have a company called Kors and make vodka for a hundred years
2 - after the online industry has been huge for the past 15 years, don't even bother to register KorsVodka.com
3 - wait until some domainer Johnny regs it after seeing your product
4 - then apply for a trademark for the first time in 100 years
5 - don't even bother to pay some lawyer or domainer a little money to find out if the reg was in bad faith and whether you have any legal recourse even if your trademark isn't finalized yet, just go ahead and pay Johnny 750k for the domain without checking to see if he regged it in bad faith (which of course he had to, KorsVodka is nowhere near a generic term and can never be taken as such)

... is it all that, or is it a stunt ;)

Either a publicity stunt or someone in their legal departments needs to be sued for gross negligence, since that is a slam dunk UDRP win for, what do they cost now? $1500 a pop?
