The fact that there are only 676 possible two letter domain names might have something to do with it's value.

$100k for a 2 letter .com is the bare minimum as far as I am concerned and I'm surprised it didn't go for more. VN isn't exactly premium letters, but theres a lot of decent acronyms that spring to mind..
