I'm looking for appraisals for the domain name VistaVersions.com, for the retail, end user market. Thanks in advance.

Current resell is low at around $15 to $20 but to an end user this can be very valuable as it’s bound to become an often searched for term and even now it appears over 300,000 times in google’s serps. I’ll say $400 to $500 to an end user.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

Obvious TM problems. If you use this domain for a site relating to anything about Windows Vista, at some point Softy's attorneys will probably send you the good ole C&D letter. Good luck.

Thanks for your insights, Kimmy. I'm actually thinking about moving this name into my development pile, because I think it's a great name that I could use to sell versions of Vista using Amazon affiliate links and other commission junction programs. If I can manage to think up enough decent content to write a press release about it, then I'll do it. :)

Thanks for your comments.

I did a TM search before registering this name, and MS has no TM on the word/term "Vista." However, If I do use the name to sell versions of the software, I'll add my usual disclaimer and keep the site and content as clean as possible. Should be OK, as I'm am doing this at this very moment with other great names.

It is almost the optimum name for vista products, all 6-8-50 :? - of them.

As pointed out already has a very high reference to "vista options" at Google, personally I se this as high $xxx - low $xxxx motivated reseller/developer and a lot more for end user.

Great name JMO

Heh, yep: u know M$: they'll try to milk it any way they can so that Mr. Gates can finally have enough money to retire :)

I'm still surprised that it was available when I reg'ed it, as I think it's a real nobrainer of a name. The traffic so far is pretty strong (now stronger than all my other AfterNIC parked names, with the exception of my 2 Showcase names.)

You didn't do a very good TM search. Softy currently has 5 Live TM's on "Windows Vista".

It's is much more likely than not, that any site relating to Vista with vista in the URL will get the C&D. But good luck with it.

Hiya:

The name in question in this thread is VistaVersions.com, not WindowsVistaVersions.com.

A trademark on "general motors" does not mean that GM also has rights to "motors" or "general"

Vista is the most distinctive part of "Windows Vista". A site with "Vista" in the domain and content on the site relating to the Microsoft trademarked product "Windows Vista" will be infringing. But, hey, give it a go and see what happens. Worst case, you have to give Softy the domain at some point in the future. Good luck.

That's a reasonably cogent argument, but I'll see how it goes with the other vista names out there. It's all good.

Remember the Mikerosoft issue which had been thrown to the court?
M$ just can take back the domain without anymore things to get from you...

Interesting to read this because we've got vistaversions.co.uk as well as all the actual version names, and various others. Not too sure what to do with them yet but best of luck with yours.
