Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

So I finally added my VR domains to Afternic 2 days ago. I've since received 4 of these for separate names:

You have received a sales lead on VRXXXXX.com through Afternic's network.

A lead indicates that someone is interested in the domain, but is not prepared to buy it yet.
In order to proceed with this buyer, please take the following steps now:

Any one else get these? I think this shows that Afternic's larger clients have expressed interest in acquiring VR domain names. Seems like they already have leads at hand.

for me:

VRspectacle.com
VirtualSpectacle.com

Beauty for 4Ls, you can fit under almost any niche:

FVRS -> Favorite VR Shows (Spectacles). Reads also as FaVoRS )

never thoght of it this way.. that they alerady have leads at hand.

I got a few in past. they wanted me to set floor and bin price after.

so I assume those were not bin listings for you either?

and if not bin, then they were not network premium either.

either way, good job. must be nice doamins

Correct they were not bin or on their premium network. But the names were very specific in theme and quality which led me to believe they have people lined up.

I see. interesting way to look at things.

it's possible they do have leads. and just ask you to set yoru floor and bin so they can contact them and talk. without floor and bin they can't do anything.

keep posted how it goes. I don't see much action on afternic. but maybe setting bins there.. or everywhere for that matter.. getting on premium etc.. would help some sales. I should try it one day.

if I rememver correctly, on most auctions, if you set bin, you cannot make offer at same time. it's either one or the other. I find this to be.. limiting.

of course owning the dot com is critical but most people type into search engine to look for sites then bookmark them if they want and if its a dot com , net xyz club or whatever tld the surfer doesn't care.

the com is vip for branding marketing and url type in of course but if u owned the com wouldn't u want the other top tlds that match especially in such a massive growth niche as vr?

as well new generation surfers and websites to be created will unable to purchase the dot com as they are pricey and limited so I feel new tld with decent keywords and brandable styled in vr market should do pretty good as far as roi.

not like dot com but that old argument is stale and u cant compare com to anything else so I don't go there. com is king but there has to be the queens and minions to follow at lesser value of course but all the same important to a companies online presence.

its a matter of how much a company is willing to lose traffic to the com I guess, what that is worth depends on how big a market share they want to lose to the com owner.

as well the com owner may not want to sell so what other options do they have but to go with another tld.

First off, I wish you luck with your names, whatever their composition or extension.

The problem I see with the VR "queens and minions" is that 1) They sell for a small percentage (10-20%) of their dot-com brethren; 2) They sell much less frequently than their dot-com brethren except for maybe top-10-20 keywords; 3) If they sell, they sell further out in time than their dot-com brethren (e.g. maybe 3-5 years later?); AND 4) Their carry-costs are not appreciably less than their dot-com brethren...

For me, when I crunch the numbers, the non-dot-com names - especially in a new emerging-technology vertical - are a very low percentage bet for significant ROI. Perhaps a review of the sales of Cloud/3D/Nano/Robot or any other emerging-tech vertical would be instructive. Check out how many recorded sales are non-dot.com - I'd venture it's less than 5%... (And again, why even go there when it's so early that you can still pick up nice VR coms for low $$$... I direct you to namebio recent VR sales for this month...) To echo that old quote, "those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it"...

Anyway, different strategies for different folks... All the above is JMHO... And again, I wish you the very best of luck with your names...

I was going to post in the drone thread, but realized it's both.

Woke up to a nice email that VRDroneRaces.com sold on GoDaddy for $350.

Anyone know how I get paid by GD? All the links in the email don't work; when I log in, the domain is no longer in my account.

Do I have to do anything?

Psyched on two drone sales totaling $700 for $18 investment!

First, never click a link in a email. They should never send you a email with a link to do something you can't do from the management consoles. Except verify email address.

Second, call them and make them explain it to you, including the broken link emails.
Nice sale
Not sure how they do their transactions now-a-days. Have not used them in many years and they change things every year.

great info, any profit is good profit, I knew with other extensions I wouldn't get rich, not many of us will do what fx has done. if I make a profit im happy if not the gamble was minimal.

im not going to reg bizarre vr dot coms when I can still reg decent keyword and brandable gtlds that have a better chance to get more interest but what do I know? if i knew thus industry better id be on the golf course, lol

I recently signed up with GD. You're supposed to have made a "Payment Profile". That's where you choose how you want to get paid. They have cheque, wire transfer, and maybe 1 or 2 other options. No Paypal though. :guilty:

Congrats!
