Hi,

I just found a domain name ******google.com (eg. watergoogle.com, watevergoogle.com). Would this be violating google's trademark? I am not selling anything or competing with google. I'm providing some sort of free tools which are not associated with google in anyway. Can anyone give their opinions please?

Thanks!

Bad idea..... are there not better names out there?

What if you are wildly successful and then have to change your name?

Or..... if you have to pay $100,000 per trademark violation?

Tools? Google in into. dev tools., so they would not like that I believe. You would be competing with them and diluting their brand.

Thanks for he reply. Actually the website is a proxy. I like ***google.com because it's a keyword+google, which could be remembered easily! What should I do if I bought that domain name?

Worry! Its just a needless worry you do not need, looking over your shoulder to see if Google is watching you with legal council at the ready. I would avoid buying the name, you will sleep better without it IMO.

dump the name immediately. There are many better, available strings of words that are easier to remember than that and carry no risk at all.

What do you mean by dumping? or let it expire?

Depending on the registrar, you should be able to delete (dump) the domain from your account. You might even get a refund.

Incorporating a distinctive TM name like google in a domain name is an automatic infringement. And yes there are better domains available.

with what you're saying, i think you should be fine, google won't be going after you in general.

since what you're doing are not associated with google, why don't you get some other domain that describes what you'll be offering

Unless you have quite a bit of money to fight about a tight legal point, you are sunk. Drop the domain or risk a UDRP or lawsuit.

Question? Where did you come up with the word "google" in your domain, if it is not associated with Google in anyway. The word is not in the dictionary, other than that created by Google.

Trademark violation for sure.
