Verisign has announced a 7% increase in .com prices to take effect on September 1, 2023. This follows a similar increase announced in 2022. The wholesale price for .com domains will increase from $8.97 currently to $9.59 after the increase and doesn't include ICANN's 18 cent fee.​

It's been known that Verisign was allowed to increase its fees by 7% in 4 out of 6 years. This is year 3. So expect another one next year and then we'll have 2 years without an increase, unless the policy will change.

During the pandemic, Verisign even had the audacity to speak of a "price freeze". Out of compassion, they wouldn't raise .com and .net prices for us that year...

Even though that would be very wise for many we first have to see whether that will really happen on a large scale.
