There are several major security issues with most versions of phpBB....
Also VBulletin has more, and more stylish mods :tu:
VBulletin is soo much better, if you can afford it!![]()
Qwert said:VB is better, everyone knows that. However is it worth the price? It depends on the size of your forum. In a forum big like this one, definatly it's worth it, in a forum with 200 members, no it's not worth it in my oppnion. The only think I like much more in vB w/mods thats not in phpBB w/mods is the reputation system, and for a small forum it's not worth it.

armstrong said:I love phpBB. Although I have heard more security-related issues with phpBB, the current version's codebase is supposed to be secure; and when an issue is brought to light, a fix is found much faster because its open source. As pointed out, its being open source means that you can find a lot more hacks and mods available for free. Tweaks are encouraged, and being hands-on is a great way to learn php. With VB, there's a tendency to avoid tweaking (at least for me), since I might break the product I paid for.
Redleg said:One important thing to think of when you're considering Vb vs. phpBB is that vBulletin is much more resource hungry than phpBB, and many web hosts does not allow vB on their shared servers since it may/will slow them down..
So it's a good idea to contact your host and ask first, unless you're on a dedicated server..![]()
Veolus said:phpBB is the ugliest forum software, all the skins are horrible.
fts said:Vbulletin should lower it prices a little. Not to mension this website is ran on vbulletin and look how good it's doing and look at how many people register a day and look how user friendly it is.
majinbuu1023 said:Yay.. its a matter of opinion but if I had the money I would go for vbulletin..
although I am not sure why most boards stick with that ugly default vbulletin skin... 80% of vbulletin forums I go to it has the default skin...
lol
