Hey,

I'm having a problem with vbulletin at the moment. Every thime i am about to start installation it provides me with the following message:

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

I have contacted vbulletin, they say that there is a problem with either the way i have modified config.php or a problem with my hosting provider. The config.php file is correct (I have even tried many stupid alterations of dbusername etc to make sure of this) and it is not my hosting as i have now gone through two hosting companies. I have also noticed that thousands of others are experiencing this same problem, just type "there seems to have been a slight problem with the database" into google to see its magnitude.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of someone who has, better yet does anyone know a solution?

Has your database and db user been set up? Did you get the email and what did it say if so?

It would most likely be something with the config/file database/dbuser or permissions somewhere.

You'll probably have to have someone take a look if you can't figure it out because that error doesn't do much other than say there's a problem.

It could be your host's problem - too many connections to the 'base at once.

Paste the "view source" of that page here.

In IE: View -> Source
In FF: View -> Page Source

Hi,

thanks for the help everyone. I am also awaiting a domain transfer from my original host (godaddy) to come through, i plan to host this domain through midphase (my new host). The problem with this is obviously that i cannot upload files to the domain name (slidingtackle.com) until the transfer come through (transfer has been 6 days now but is finally on its way apparently). I have been given a different location by midphase where i can upload the forum, however it is within a sub-folder and not in the root folder, so i dont believe it will work as apparently the forum has to be installed in root.

The source code for the sub folder:

<!--
Database error in vBulletin :

Invalid SQL:
SELECT title, data
FROM datastore
WHERE title IN ('options', 'cron', 'forumcache', 'usergroupcache', 'stylecache', 'userstats', 'birthdaycache', 'maxloggedin', 'iconcache', 'eventcache', 'mailqueue')

mysql error: Table 'slidmai6_slidingtackle.datastore' doesn't exist

mysql error number: 1146

Date: Sunday 19th of June 2005 11:04:03 AM
Script: http://esc57.midphase.com/~slidmai6/forum/
Referer: http://esc57.midphase.com/~slidmai6/
IP Address: 80.44.79.72
-->

</body></html>

I can assure you that even though it says the database doesn't exist, it does. I dont wish to show anyone the config file because obviously it contains my password etc, but i can also assure you that it is correct. I think the problem here is that it is not installed at the root, which i can try once the domain is tranferred.

Thanks again.

Well it should give you some errors in that installation section that may help you determine the problem. The errors you're getting on the main forum page are simply stating that your database tables don't exist. -- The install system will create them for you. Good luck. :)

You could try switching hosts and reinstalling vb and see if it works again.
