No. I can't see who would use one. A statewide organization of plumbers would use a dot org. Small individual plumbers are very local. A plumbing company who services an entire state no doubt already has their branding in place. Maybe an advertising directory/recommendation service like Angies list?

This is a good idea. Create a directory with these names.

that was my original plan….however it seems there are a lot of state wide plumbing companies.And lots of those have the state name in them. Certainly in tx anyway which is as far I've got

The whole "make a directory site" idea is really played out. There are plenty of sites out there already for that kind of thing. When looking for a plumber people will ask friends, Angies List, Facebook, apps like Yelp, etc. Plus, how many people here can really make a quality directory site?

For me, plumbing is kind of like hotels, cities would be better than states. People search for Atlanta Hotels, not Georgia hotels. Same with plumbing and other services.

It would cost a local plumber zero dollars, to just host his plumbing company/services on Facebook. And based on my own experience, you "can" (not always, but "can") even beat out domained websites on Google search, with just a Facebook page alone.
