Hi there,

I was wondering about the value of co.ext and org.ext names (e.g. www.co.cctld). i know they are rare but i have been presented with the opportunity to purchase a name like this, for i think a reasonable price :)

views appreciated :)

Entirely dependant on the country. U.K., Japan, Korea, India - very possibly.
Others - much more doubtful.

i should rephrase this so it is more understandable :hehe:

Say there was an extension like .zz. What would be the value of a name like www.co.zz, so subdomains of the form www.name.co.zz could be created?

If you place banners or ask 1 or 2 ยฃ per subdomain you will have no problems getting a profit. Maybe no huge profit, but still a profit. I mean, co.nr and co.tv both have a lot of subdomain users and then .NR is not even a truely usable extention.

And look at this: .co.ni - 60 ยฃ per year per subdomain, and there's still people crazy enough to buy them: approx 600 subdomains have been registered already. So good profit for whoever registered co.ni!

As for value of existing ccTLDs: here in the UK we only have .co.uk and .org.uk (and a few others) but not .uk on its own, so we're very used to .co.xx extentions.

.co.ee is apparently also doing a good trade because of .ee having such rigid restrictions on who can register. They're 28 euros a pop at EuroDNS
