Actually eBay has removed the links to any auctions he participated in..

I think it's interesting he purchased off eBay as they're bound to make a fuss over that.. which is a shame IMO.

I think this was a bad move imo. There was no need to expose his email and ebay account. If it was used for the investigation fair enough but its just going to cause a lot of fuss.

You know Dave,I think if any loonie planning something like this is able to not only order weapons or ammo online but have it dropped off at his doorstep I think a little attention sent the way of E-bay wouldn't hurt. I don't think this has anything to do with gun laws or right to possess weapons which we wouldn't agree upon, but I am thinking if this guy can get ammo this way, think of the others that could also.

They seem to have some restrictions on the sale of weapons. Are they enough or are they capable of being monitored and enforced?

He got ammo clips, not actual ammo.. but I expect there might still be a stink about it.

I love how the alarmist like to place guns as the problem instead of people. I don't see anyone calling attention to the amount of auto related deaths we have every day. Ebay sells cars too.

Guns don't kill people...people kill people.

I agree... takes someone to aim and pull the trigger. Guns are used just as much for good as bad.

And it will happend again, when a country have gun laws like this of course it will happend again and again. How on earth can almost everyone get a gun legally like this.. Sure, you say that " Guns don't kill people...people kill people".. but..

Here in Sweden we dont have guns (of course some gangsters get some from the black market) and guess how many school shootings we have had? Correct, zero!!

When are guns used for "good."?

Maybe when stopping those who are using them for bad? Circular logic...

Check this out:

25 years murder-free in 'Gun Town USA'
Crime rate plummeted after law required firearms for residents

As the nation debates whether more guns or fewer can prevent tragedies like the Virginia Tech Massacre, a notable anniversary passed last month in a Georgia town that witnessed a dramatic plunge in crime and violence after mandating residents to own firearms.

In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw โ€“ responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill. โ€“ unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of "Wild West" showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting โ€“ as a victim, attacker or defender.

Gun can be used responsibly for hunting (for food and to thin wildlife populations) and for self defense...

I don't feel guns should be outlawed as then (I know, I know) only "outlaws will have guns".

Surprisingly not much yet. I too was expecting a little controversy but I think everyone is a little caught up in the character that did this at the moment. The guy who sold him a gun was the reception of a lot of backlash but that is unfair as he was following all the rules and guidelines expected of him.

Guns were used by every country involved in that little war against Hitler that nobody seems to remember.

BTW, Americans didn't fight for their independence with pans full of hot grease. :p

I was obviously talking about private citizens using firearms.

Criminals will always have guns. If they're willing to shoot up 30+ people, they probably can get over breaking the laws to get the guns.

Also, I must draw attention to this:

Brilliant. eBay should pay more attention. How much more vague could you get? It's easy to say "they should do better." Do you have any real suggestions? That would be more appreciated.

Amazing discussion. And to top it all nothing was mention he had 69 feedbacks. And a 98.5% feedback. With 1 negative. And apparently the person never received the ticket from him. Interesting he had such good selling skills or what ever coined term for this. But lousy people skills in public.

 I was going to post that link in here, too -- obviously you're a Digg reader (I've been reading it lately).

Interestingly enough, there are many people that are completely different in terms of social skill online. I know some people that are very quiet and reserved, but are funny, friendly, and outgoing online.

Canada has more guns per capita than the USA and they have a LOT less violent crime committed with guns than America. Americans are just violent and that's a different issue than guns. Is it our media? Is it our society? It's certainly not the fact that guns are manufactured. As I pointed out...guns are more prevelant in Canada yet they have a small amount of murders in comparison to the USA.

BTW...Germany has strict gun laws yet they have the #2 gun massacre on record. There is an estimate 10 million legal guns and 20 million illegal guns there.

As for Sweden...well your neighbor Switzerland had 14 legislators killed by a gun. How far off is Sweden from Switzerland for gun control laws?

Read this pretty good recent article.

Instead of voicing your opinion based on one highly publicized incident you should research it entirely before forming an opinion.

There aren't many places I don't read the news from.. always looking for things to post: digg, slashdot, reddit, rojo, topix, newsvine, you name it...

I think the anonymity of the Internet allows people to either be who they "really" are or want to be, or just try to be something different.

I think you read this wrong. Dave commented on the fact that a fuss may be made over ebay selling clips. I "suggested" that if criminals were able to obtain such things that a little attention they may recieve may not be a bad thing. They have a policy regarding selling of weapons but is it enforceable?
My guess it is but some scrutiny may not hurt.
I have no critisizm of Ebay whatsoever, but may put a little effort into seeing what exactly one can buy. I expect nothing concerning.
Criminals being able to break laws is a given and goes without saying. I am not sure what your suggestion was.
