Does anyone have any examples of sites that use WP but isn't a blog? Any pros/cons to this method?

I recently started doing this and am finding it a real pleasure to work with. We had been custom coding most of our sites, but I'm finding that WP makes a nice backend tool. There are so many plugins that, so far, I have always been able to make them do what I want.

SilverEarrings.org shows comment boxes, but that's only because I haven't figured out how to turn them all off yet.

I have been trying to do exactly what you did for SilverEarrings.org with ebay ads and all but cant figure it out, what sort of template are you using? i have alot of product domains that would work really well with that sort of design, care to help?

I have been trying to do this, I have very little experience and find it realatively challenging - I just finished BGMV Inc. - A Vardag.net Production yesterday but still cant figure out how to center the text and get rid of the home page, which is a duplicate of another page

Thesis wordpress theme from diythemes.com. Developer version so I can put it on all the domains I own. phpBayPro from phpbay.com to make the ebay stuff easy. Assorted plugins.

The biggest problem is the time it takes to install and configure and then set up the pages and categories. I am also a little concerned about the number of updates I will have to do when WP 2.8 comes out.

Here are some examples: 30 Untypical WordPress Sites

WordPress can definitely be used as a CMS, and not just for blogs. You get an easy to use backend as well as all the plugins available, like mentioned above.

Thanks for that link. I took a quick peak at the site and it's definitely what I'm looking for!

here are some examples i've worked on:

cjlandscape.com
currentsnj.com

im working on 2-3 other sites with wp as a cms - clients who have no web development knowledge love it because they get the control to modify their sites themselves and don't have to rely on anybody. it was the main reason why i switched to using wp as a cms in the first place (since clients wanted the ability to modify the site themselves)

Wordpress and drupal are much better options for creating portfolio sites or sites with fewer pages. Joomla is too much of a bloat and is weaker in seo.

I have used Wordpress for a non-blog site.

It's all about using the correct design, so technically it's still a blog but because of how it is shown it doesn't look like one, if that makes sense.

With Wordpress, you can actually customize or edit your site anywhere without logging in to your FTP. I find it convenient since most of my work are done at home or at the office where I installed my FTPs.

You can't customize everything, but most you can do via the WP editor.

Sean, I don't think you've gone and made that theme.

Its a theme thats been released by OSDesigner - but yes, its a good example of a WordPress powered website - which isn't a blog.

Is it possible
to use Wordpress for non blog sites
What we usually noticed is that Wordpress is only
for blogs but yeah we can use Wordpress other than creating Blogs on it.
I have seen few sites using Wordpress but non Blog sites.

It`s very strange to use WP not for blogs.

Why? I think of it as a database with three indexes into it (posts, pages, tags). That makes for a lot of flexibility. WP takes care of all the routine stuff so you can put almost all your time into writing content.

Never said I did design or code the site, I would never say other people work is my own!
