is it a trademark fault to use word palm in a domain name? it would be intended as the plant type. so a noun. and would have another noun in front of it. but a noun which can also be a verb and is of a techy nature.

of course I want to avoid potential issues with the Palm producers, but I also want to make sure my auction would not get cancelled on some auction site if I list there one day.

this domain is in wayback machine 30 times 2002-2004.. but I don't think that answers my question does it..

or would this be totally inconclusive like I guess quite a few potential trademark issues arising today are.

thank you for your help.

I see no TM issues in the name alcy. I'm not a lawyer ofc but palm is a dictionary word and, as long as the domain name does not obviously suggest relation to the Palm products, you should be ok.

One thing you should be careful is to not park the domain. Since you don't have control over which ads show up, you'll risk having the wrong ads on there (if Palm ads appear on your domain then it will suggest you're trying to profit using a TM name)

thanks!
I research this on google a bit, and there is a website or two that says the word is trademarked and goes on to give specific instructions and how to use it not to break rules.. so it goes into real great lenghts to discuss what english word types to use in front or at end of it even! where to put adjective, or noun etc.

it was actually amazing to extent to whcih they went to make this clear.

I wouldn't expect issues from the makers, so this is more a concern for the auction sites where I might wanst to post this for sale. which can be more picky than manufacturers themselves I guess.

and if I cannot post a domain name for sale at auction.. well.. I guess to me that defies the purpose a bit then. so I just wanted to get some second thoughts here..

so thanks a lot for that!

It would be helpful if you could post the links you found here.

It really depends on the usage of the domain and what word we are talking about exactly. If you are registering a name like PalmProducts

basically what he said, You should be fine as long as it doesn't suggest the trademark holder and has an obvious use/ you don't show ads related to them *ie parking*
