Just went to visit 32828.us (my zip code) and it's changed quite a lot. It contains more information on the area than it used to, but mostly scraped from Wikipedia. They also removed the only reason I ever went to these sites in the first place - it was a quick and easy way to check the weather.

I hope Neustar are not going to use this sudden "activity" on the .US zip portals as leverage to keep stewardship of the .US namespace.

I like the work they put into it but I haaaaaaaaaate the .us directory... half the pages there are just parked or at least the last time I checked thats how it was.

That is exactly what they are trying to do. I wrote them challenging the allowance of official state governments having the state.us domain site sit idle and not even resolve to a viewable webpage (over 20 states are guilty of this). Some of the states did not even have active nameservers. Quite ironically, just after I wrote Neustar, states began making nameserver changes (probably at the prompting of Neustar) ... because it looks terrible for state dotUS portals to not even be functioning. And it's further evidence against Neustar for being complacent, poor stewards of dotUS.

I think they need a new web designer :)

I know they have thousands of sites but that is just simply awfull.

with all those free css templates and usefull software products photo shop/macromedia, It's just a waste of cyberspace IMHO.

{ I cant design or code very well but compared to this i'm top notch :) }

This is suppose to be the efforts of a two year project... The directory actually went live the first part of August. In my opinion it is clearly an effort to maintain the .US contract.

Three of the .US sites listed on that zip (as well as all zips) are mine, but they have not seen much, if any traffic.
