It appears the domain industry has been starting to take notice of the .us namespace over the past year, read DnJournal.com .us growth and Namepros with even greater expectations for the year to come.

So I thought it would be a good idea to ask everyone to show us your .us domain names. You can post your favorites or your entire portfolio.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear - what kind of search volume, cpc values, comparable sales do you consider "premium". For example, I consider anything with 50,000 exact local searches and $1 CPC (or 10k exacts and $5 CPC) to be the minimum before I get excited about a name. That doesn't mean I don't own names that are below that threshold, but those are what I would consider premium.

If you are wondering if there is a market for names that fit the above description, the answer is - yes.

All of those elements. The problem here is that I really don't see a true market for .US domains.

Am I wrong? I hope so.

Premium keywords in .US do have a market. I have sold too many to list over the last year, mainly to end users.

Today I agreed to sell a TwoWord.us (service industry) for $3000+, and a surname for $275. Both names cost me under $250 total.

Thanks guys. If I decide not to move forward with these names, I'll be happy to share!

PS: Blitz .CO is a speculation, but It's more of a project for me as opposed to a flip.

I always factor in search volume, CPC, and other metrics when judging a domain in any extension. However, I mainly just use it to judge the commercial viability of a domain.

There are some terms in certain industries (Legal / Medicine / Education / Finance) that might have lower search volume, but still have a lot of potential value.

There are other terms with hundreds of thousands of searches per month with very limited commercial value.

I think it's strange how traffic works.

I have some nice (imho) keywords. Not many as I'm not a collector. The only one that consistently gets hits every day 2-4 is emancipate.us

I'm not sure why.

Some I don't know why they don't have a single type in. I have another where there 200,000 exact searches month and the .info just sold this month for 3K.

Average Monthly Search Stats - []
Average Monthly Searches: 2,755,200
Average Cost Per Click: $1.25 USD
Average Ad Competition: high

I would have thought someone would have noticed and seen if the .us was open at least :) I'm going to try and gain traffic for a couple in the coming months so we'll see how that goes :)

Funny thing is that I put manicurists.us for auction here. 90,000 exact. Estibot says $1900... I thought...easy $20. Here at NP I got a high bid of $0 but I didn't receive transfer details.

Traffic means squat in .us I think you have to go seek and search and make an effort :)

Speaking of search volume, I was putting together a spreadsheet of my .US domains (currently around 230) and I had a column for "keywords" for the domain. I ran that column through the google adword tool and got the local exact search count for each. Simple enough, though it's not counting everything it could because of spaces and what not (waterslides versus water slides). Then I decided, just for fun, to see what the sum total was for all my .US's. Turns out I'm just shy of 9 million exact searches a month.
Average exact searches per domain - 40k.
Average CPC - $3.

Total spend for .US is under $5k. Those are some pretty amazing figures (though now I'm sure to be shown up!)... documented here for posterity :)

WildlifeConservation.US

Just thought of this domain, not a lot of searches, but I think it's a great fit with .US and could be put to some good use as an educational or informational site about wildlife in America.

The .com version of talk.us is a phone sex site. That aside, talk.us would make a good telecom site.

There are a lot of good .us sites out there nowadays, and even more premium domains in a holding pattern in cyberspace. Whether or not they will ever gain in popularity like their brother .com sites is another story.

If all of my .us domains were .coms I'd be filthy rich. For now, however, I'll continue to hope and pray for better days for the .us tld. I'm thinking maybe we'll know either way in five to ten years.

By they way, Carlton, you have some kick ass .us and .biz domains. Kudos.

Thanks. Stay faithful to quality .US names. They are opportunity, :tu: . Talk.us would indeed make a good telecom site. I think a social networking site as well. Noticed this recent sale ...

credex.us $1200 (Sedo)

I have wondered about the idea of pitching (dot) US domains to End Users. What is the usual response? I know some here are selling (dot) US to End Users on a regular basis. Do you avoid a (dot) US if the (dot) COM, NET and ORG are parked? I picked up one yesterday and in hind sight, maybe it was not a good one to register. SILOS (dot) US has 49k monthly exact searches, SERP is 21 Million, CPC is only .62 but ad comp. is HIGH but I see most versions of the domain are parked. Would you avoid this domain because the other versions are parked? Would you avoid it because the CPC is only .62? Have you pitched a (dot) US domain to End Users in this situation?

Thank you

I picked up Wasilla.us a few days ago, and now -

"Levi Johnston to run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in reality show"

Bilbo333, I like developing .us names where the rest are parked. I have a couple at the top spot in yahoo where the same keyword is parked in the other extensions, Google not so much. There are a few companies that might be interested in Silos when I type that in, but not many ads show up in google. Try sending an email to them if you are looking for an end user sale.

JB Lions, besides the major cities in the US, that is one of the most famous cities in Alaska and the US due to the Palins. Very recognizable and GREAT name you have there. Congrats :tu:

CardReaders here. Decent name but exact searches are a bit small. Over 1 million searches on the phrase "card reader" though, so it has some potential. Snap seems to have kinda gone bonkers so I'm sure it was harder for folks to track what to pick up today.

Definitely an interesting day for .us in more ways than one.

Thanks, Even tho I'm not a fan of them, I kind of picked that one up for fun, knowing it was the home of the Palins and I like city.us. Not sure what I'll do with it.

Picked up a few on the drops today gasheater, sciencebooks etc

Got a few of hotels ones, like capecodhotels (auction), palmbeachhotels (hand reg) etc last couple of weeks.

Going to try building one of my .us out. Gets about 33,000 exact match, perfect for the holidays and as a gift, plenty of merchants with affiliate programs that carry the product. As far as ones I've developed, they've all been .com. But recently trying a .org, info and now a us.

Snap is listing names with an expiration date of march 2010. Must have had a hiccup or something.
